Phil Bennett - from head coach at SMU to Defensive coordinator at Baylor to Defensive coordinator at UNT. Quite a ride.

While a name was not given by the source, some UNT fans speculate it could be Mike Stoops, a long time friend of Seth Littrell. Fans have been impatient with Littrell for dragging his feet on this hire. Bowen was let go at the first of the year, and while other programs have fired and hired coaches UNT has not. Stoops seems to be the target. He was tied up with his job as an analyst and back up COVID coach with Alabama until after the National Title game this past Monday. Unfortunately, Stoops is also rumored to be one of the coaches in the running for the Missouri DC position. Here is a rundown on Stoops. I'll post more if something actually comes of this.

No Stoops. Bennett will be the new DC.

Where did Stoops go?

I think Bennett is a good hire for DC, but a better hire would have been to replace Littrell. The highest paid coach in C-USA should not keep his job with a 31-31 record and an 0-4 bowl record after five seasons in charge.

Don't forget the 0-1 record in the CCG.

Something tells me you don't want Littrell as coach. I guess you think posting it over and over is going to generate the millions needed to buy him out.

Littrell is NT's coach for next year and I hope he turns it around, because I doubt there will be a buyout even after another 3 or 4 win season.

Highest paid coach comes with the highest buyout.
