Is this surprising to you? Algerchambeau should have been gone long before now, but there are too many pantywaists in Hburg to hold him accountable.
Whatever you allow, it will continue.

JMU receives F grade on board transparency report
Can someone elaborate on what this is?
What board? Trustees? Who gives this grade?
Where else does this get noted?
I’d hate to see our school getting run down even further.

PCAPT, Partners for College Affordability and Public Trust. 15 colleges in VA where graded.
google WHSV jmu board report card.
LH or others probably know about PCAPT.
An attempted lack of transparency, dancing around transparency lines seems to be a growing theme at out school.

The Algerchambeau-Bolling situation still bothers me. If the school is going to line the pockets of politicians with fake jobs, don't call me and ask for my $100 bucks or write manifestos about the cost of education...rings of, do as I say, not as I do.
state employee administrators should have terms

"She said under their recommendation, the university could use more work on accessibility and board receptiveness. Gordon said improvements should be made to things like public commenting periods"
Now how many times have we heard this complaint?

Just curious, what do people think the leadership at JMU is good at?

Monitoring? What is Dukeman good at? Repetitiveness.

RE: JMU receives F grade on board transparency report
I did not create this thread as a poke in the ribs of the admin. The initial post stated a fact, no opinion or names at all.
I think must of us, even me, have figured this out about the admin and about JMU conference realignment; preparedness, willingness, capabilities, transparency etcetera. King and Bourne are not going to be part of the decisions for long so if any of us feel compelled to go at an individual(s), there are more appropriate individuals than King and Bourne.
I say we back off King and Bourne with questions about preparedness, willingness, capabilities & transparency and instead, we ask our president, Jon Alger well into his second term for an uncensored Q&A session regarding conference realignment.
Fair questions?
For Alger
1) Are you open minded to an athletic conference affiliation including FBS football, yes or no?
2) If 1) is yes, have you contacted a president from any peer institution and discussed how FBS football is used as a marking tool for the university, yes or no?
For Bourne (If King/Alger allow)
1) Have you and do you continuously speak with ADs at peer institutions to gauge if/when/how the G5 conferences are going to reorganize geographically, yes or no?
2) If the mid-atlantic G5s reorganize, in your opinion, should/would JMU get an invitation?
Is there a way for a regular JMU alum/supporter (not one of the few locals that matter to the admin) to make a request for a Q&A session? Asking and getting a sincere Q&A session would likely rid this boards of the bitching about no transparency with this admin/BOV a la the past 15 years.

The facilities they have built have been an A in my opinion, especially on the athletics side.

RE: JMU receives F grade on board transparency report
the JMU response to this grade was pretty snarky... it's in the WHSV article - basically saying "thanks but you don't matter because we are following the law and using it as a shield. now go away we won't be the change"
paraphrasing, clearly, but that's the read.

The facilities have been great. They also deserve credit for fundraising efforts, such as Giving Day, and doubling the university's endowment, though we still have a ways to go to catch up to our peers. Also, aren't we about to reclassify as a national university? That is also credit that should be given to our leadership.
