2021 Football Schedule Thread
I figure this is a good place to start dropping scheduling nuggets. I fully expect the schedules will be released late this year. They should be coming out right about now... but #Covid

At this point it will be interesting if the ACC just acts like 2020 never happened and keeps all the previously scheduled Home/Aways the same for 2021. Everyone got screwed someway in 2020 and will get screwed someway in 2021...my recommendation would be to keep all the original conference 2021 games. File it under poo-poo happens.

The Schedule question has been one which has bothered me since the Covid mess invaded FB in July and August. I don't think there's any particularly "fair" way to go forward. With a new Commissioner coming in, I think the best thing to do is just hold the previous schedules ... for one season. Then when he arrives, give him six months and let everyone make schedule change recommendations.

This...he needs to tell the B1G that all leagues need scheduling flexibility.

We need to play all the teams more than once every 6 years.

Louisville and Georgia Tech will open ACC play in the 2023 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game set to be played Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The 2023 Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game will be broadcast on either ESPN or ABC.

Complicating factor: non-conference schedules, especially P5 games. Some programs use the OOC games to balance out their ACC schedules. Think FSU, which alternates between Miami and Florida at home. Now add to that the fact that the vast majority of the P5 non-conference games cancelled in 2020 were ACC home games (e.g. South Carolina at Clemson, Florida at FSU, Kentucky at Louisville, Penn State at Virginia Tech, Mississippi State at NC State, etc., etc.) and you have a real MESS to fix - no easy solution that I can see, unless some of these OOC opponents agree to a one-time neutral site game with tickets split 50/50.

RE: 2021 Football Schedule Thread
The only change I've seen so far is between Louisville and Kentucky where they agreed to adjust the series by a year to account for 2020. I know other annual OOC matchups are unlikely to do that. For example, at Clemson, having seven home games is hugely important to the school. So, based on the fact that the OOC schedule is already filled out way into the future, Clemson is just going to be stuck playing in Columbia two times in a row without a return game in between.

RE: 2021 Football Schedule Thread
A hurricane wiped out NC State's home game with West Virginia in 2018 and we still went there in 2019. Covid wiped out our home game with Miss State in 2020 so I expect us to still go to StarkVegas as long as out of conference games are played.

I agree with the notion we won't see scheduling til the summer when we have a better feel for Covid. No sense doing it twice again.

Hopefully most schools work out cancelled OOC games as much as possible. No reason Miss St can't return to Raleigh later in the decade.

Actually, I bet the schedule is released by mid March. College towns revolve around the home games and the businesses need some time to plan for them. Ofcourse, TV will want the games set up early too.

Hopefully the pandemic will have turned by March, too. (Yeah, I've been told that's too optimistic but it's still my hope)

No, Mississippi State is not going to come later in the decade. If NC State is stupid enough to play them in Starkville it will be just another Tennessee or LSU series where the visit to Raleigh never happens.

NC State did not have a legitimate on campus stadium with Riddick. That's why many years we played more games on the road for most of the 20's to the mid 1960's. To pay off Carter Finley Stadium early despite sub 7% interest rates, NC State also played a lot of money games at Nebraska, Georgia, Auburn, UCLA, etc.., etc. There is therefore no history of certain schools ever coming to Raleigh with the notable exceptions of Alabama and Ohio State. Even Penn State games were essentially 2 for 1 deals. If State goes to Starkville next year I hope Boo Corrigan is fired.

Why you sign a contract with a huge buy-out. If they bail they pay $500K

A big buy out does not phase a school that seats 100k in their football stadium.

$500K is not a big buyout.

$500K is not a big buyout.

Make it a $1M then. Miss St isn't Bama, LSU, etc...their stadium is not gargantuan...their fan base is not as rich and crazed as the big boys.

I guess they wanted one less thing for Phillips to tackle his first year.

Not gonna lie. I hope Clemson comes to Pittsburgh late November and it's cold and snowy. But I'm sure it'll be a late September game.

Was Pitt the last team to win in death valley?
