Merrimack
14th ranked NU is taking on Merrimack in a Hockey East matchup this weekend.

Last night, NU eeked out a 3-2 comeback win on OT at Matthews Arena.

Freshman Gunnarwolfe Fontaine tied the game at 2 late in the 3rd period and freshman Dylan Jackson won it in OT.

It was also the college debut for F Sam Colangelo, who returned from Edmonton after winning a Gold Medal for the USA at the World Juniors. He's on the top line with Zack Solow and Grant Jozefek.

Freshman and Team Canada goalie Devon Levi was also supposed to make his college debut, but he suffered an upper-body injury during warmups. So Connor Murphy filled in and got the win in net.

The two teams meet again today in North Andover.

RE: Merrimack
#13 NU got a critical win tonight on Senior Night over Merrimack 6-1 at Matthews Arena. It was the first game of a home-and-home series that ends the regular season.

NU also got some help from BC who beat UMass. This means NU with 44 league points is just 2 points behind UMass (46 points) with one final game to play Saturday. NU needs a win at Merrimack and another UMass loss to BC in Amherst, and those 3 points would give NU the regular season Hockey East title.

Of course if NU did have that BAD 1-0 loss at Vermont Tuesday night, we would be 1 point ahead of UMass going into Saturday. I was too pissed to post the game, highlights or anything else here after that!

NU-Merrimack drop the puck tonight at 7pm in North Andover. The game can be seen for free on CollegeSportsLive. NU will know what happened in Amherst, as BC-UMass play at 4:30pm on NESN.

RE: Merrimack
NU, fresh off ruining UConn's debut of their new arena last Saturday, begin a key home-and-home tonight at #10 Merrimack. The game is at 7pm on ESPN+.

I can't get over Merrimack being ranked, no less in the top 10.

NU's needs to win at least one of these, as they're on the cusp of getting back into the national rankings.

RE: Merrimack
NU storms out to a quick 2-0 1st period lead and never looked back as they beat Merrimack 5-1 in North Andover.

The win put NU, despite all of their inconsistent play, into 1st place in Hockey East. Both the men and women's team lead HE.

The two teams meet tomorrow night at Matthews Arena. Hoops and hockey double-dip at the old barn tomorrow...

Amazing we've been kind of hot ever since wearing the old-school red jerseys, similar to 2016 coming back from break when we got sizzling hot all the way to winning the HE Championship.
