WKU is my bet to win the league. Stansbury actually has enough talent to win the league despite any coaching shortcomings. But he seems to be doing much better in that department this year as well.

Or go to MVC and football indy. Something has to give. We have the coach, the facilities and the talent. But I would bet $50 we sit at home again this season. Meanwhile the Alabama team we beat is ranked #18. This is beyond ridiculous.

The problem is, we are right on the verge of being a consistent 2 bid league, but we haven't been able to get over the hump. I feel like we are a stronger league this season than last.

I agree, if we are always going to be a 1 bid league then why not play in a weaker league and improve the chances of getting that single bid?

It was really hard to get the OOC games sorted out this year. I'm not sure what UAB would have done with 2-3 tougher games on the schedule that ultimately didn't take place, but I'd sure like to have found out. The past few years, we've had one or two teams win a few decent OOC games. We need to have the elite teams pick up some decent wins each. Until that happens, we won't see multiple bids. Are we closer than we have been? I think so. But until it actually happens we are unfortunately a 1 bid conference.

Stadium is sticking with UAB as a 13 seed in their latest update.

So Rice is out of the CUSA penthouse suite and UAB is in. Sorry Owls, if you could lower the blinds and leave the key under the mat on the way out that would be great. Thanks

I agree with you. I'm just saying that we have been close multiple times, but haven't gotten over the hump. I honestly think this needs to be a major priority for the conference.

I would argue we are the toughest 1 bid conference out there.

RE: Stadium projects CUSA is a one bid-league and that one bid is RICE
That's probably a true statement, especially based on how many times our 1 bid, as an extremely low seed, has knocked an opponent off. A commissioner that actually cared or did something could help put some rules in place for scheduling, and could also work out deals with other conferences to ensure we had games, but we all know we don't have that. I agree we aren't far off from getting a second bid, but my biggest concern at this point is when we finally do have the stars align that a NET 300 team knocks off one of the teams with a great OOC. That is something we absolutely can't have happen.

Shows how little research goes into these things. This is a joke. Not saying Rice can't win it, but they would be a 4th or 5th choice at best for me. WKU should win it based on talent, but you never know. Have to prove it on the floor.

Bracket Matrix has UAB as the top-ranked 13 based on 47/77 brackets.

The latest CBS bracket from Jerry Palm has UAB with the auto-bid and a 14 seed.

Also has WKU, with one of the last at-large bids, as a 12 seed in a play-in game.

CBS Bracketology

Let's hope so. I think it needs to be a major priority for us to consistently get two bids every year.

Honestly, with the history of the basketball programs in this conference, there's no reason we shouldn't consistently get two bids.

WKU
UAB
MTSU
Charlotte
ODU
UTEP

All of those schools have solid basketball histories, no reason we shouldn't be able to consistently get two bids with those schools in our conference.

WKU will really need to run the gauntlet the rest of the way to get an at large.

No offense, but is quite possibly the weakest smack I’ve ever read.

I agree. I’m not sure WKU can lose again in regular season. At most one more loss and it can only be at UNT. Everybody else will be too bad of a loss according to NET. Then must get to Tourney Finals and lose to either UAB or Marshall. I think that’s what it takes and that is a very hard path.

The two early CUSA losses really put us in a hole. Can’t lose those two when you have to be near perfect to get an at-large.
