Yeah - I think he stepped away from recruiting and hands on coaching but he helps game plan and consults on the defensive side. A very experienced, good resource for Fickell to have on staff.

Really like that we have someone like him on staff. Like that they are using the Alabama model with having Analyst on staff. That way if we do go with a up and comer at the DC we have 2 DC on staff to help him along the way.

Everyone has those analysts now days. Its a way to keep guys employed (they don't make very much). Alabama uses it a little different than most as they take on guys who were making a ton of money and got canned elsewhere and "rehabilitate" them.

I"m not saying it's false but do you have a reputable link?

This is from Notre Dame Insider's web page:

Quote:The university announced in a statement early Friday evening that a deal is in place for Freeman to leave the University of Cincinnati for ND. This time he opted for the Irish over LSU, which reportedly this week offered Freeman a four-year contract at $2.5 million per season.

ND Insider.com

Yeah I think that was posted earlier in this thread or another one. It's not crystal clear but I read that to be most likely the rumored LSU offer, not the actual ND deal. And I haven't seen anything claiming ND matched the LSU offer other than his post.

I know this is OT, but fwiw I read a new ND article by perhaps their top "insider". One poster says it is $1.6M per and asks the Insider for details but he declines and says he didn't dig very hard into the salary info.

Figuring out what Notre Dame pays staff has always been a moving target. If you believe them they only pay BK $1.7M. Everyone knows they have money coming in from a variety of sources and nobody knows the real numbers (nor are they required to disclose them).

That could be a BASE salary, but you best believe incentives add another couple million. I mean, for God's sake, they have a named DC position, that's got to be a lot of endowed cash.

Yeah, no figures you see about the Domers are accurate because none of it is required to be reported and it’s not subject to FOIA.

That’s perhaps his base weekly pay check from the administration. Multiply by several times when you factor in media, apparel and all kinds of other income streams that go to his bottom line.

Solid work on compiling and updating, Z. Should Michael Young be listed?

I don't believe so. I think he may actually have 2 years of eligibility remaining (including the Covid Year).

Got it. Just went and looked at his profile - he graduated from ND, but still had two more years remaining. Smart kid.

I wonder if staff goes after another tackle in the portal... 24/7 still lists a few as available.

Which is why the FCS guy raised my eyebrow. Either he is really good on film or we don’t think we’d do well in the market.

He and Beavers played at UConn together. Apparently he had been working on coming here for a while.

I saw somewhere that Tennessee was recruiting him as well. Obviously, UT is not a powerhouse program but they land high-quality recruits so it's not like we were the only major program after him. I don't think the staff would have offered him a scholarship if they didn't think he was going to be a day 1 starter at LT. Hopefully, he plays as advertised, they say he has NFL potential but I guess we will see.

What is our 2 deep looking like on the line right now for next season? I wonder if Metz would fair better at right tackle since he is a really good run blocker.

RE: Football Departures - Crowd Source
My early guess if we don’t have any transfers out:

C: Renfro, Robinson
LG: O’Quinn, Cooper
RG: McConnel, Woodside
LT: Tunstall
RT: Williams

Metz and perhaps any of about 3-4 guys as backups at tackle.

Every year a true Frosh or RS Frosh seems to step up and grab a spot in the 2 deep so it will be interesting to watch this spring and summer. Seems we have a ton of young offensive linemen on the roster.
