CUSA Frisco BB Tourney being copied by NCAA
Well to you fans that think its "smalltime" to play two games in the same building...

the 2020-2021 NCAA Tourney is doing just that. CUSA basketball scheduling is being copied by a few other conferences and now so is the tourney.....Judy, Judy, Judy!

Quote:The tournament will be hosted by Ball State, Butler, the Horizon League, Indiana, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and Purdue, which are lending their facilities and staffs to assist with tournament operations. The Indiana Convention Center will be used as a practice facility, with multiple courts set up inside the venue. Marriott properties, an official NCAA corporate partner, will house most of the tournament teams. The properties are connected to the convention center via skywalks and within a controlled environment. All teams will be housed on dedicated hotel floors, with physically distanced meeting and dining rooms, as well as secure transportation to and from competition venues.

Games will be played on two courts inside Lucas Oil Stadium, as well as Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Hinkle Fieldhouse, Indiana Farmers Coliseum, Mackey Arena in West Lafayette and Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. Only one game at a time will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium.

I don't know all those stadiums, but Mackey is about 90 minutes or so from downtown Indy and Bloomington's might be even a bit further? That's a really big bubble.

I'll assume teams will bus to and from the games not in Indianapolis but stay in the Indianapolis hotels?

This is a pretty big deal, financially for the state of Indiana. I imagine the women will do the same thing in a different state? My guess is Texas (San Antonio) has a solid chance to host, although honestly I don't know the facilities available there? Maybe Houston might be in the running? They could easily use the downtown convention center for a practice facility, and Toyota Center, UH, Rice and TSU's facilities.

Im assuming this is due to Covid, and anticipated attendance restrictions. So I guess you could say Judy lead the way in planning tournaments on the cheap for less than 1000 fans in attendance.

Depends. Are two games going on at the same time, separated by a curtain?

Doesnt make any sense to have two courts on the same floor if they are only playing one game. But to be honest I stopped reading after the part I quoted.

Actually it wasnt ...." Only one game at a time will be played at Lucas Oil Stadium" So as I said it doesnt make sense if two games are not being played at the same time. And its easy to assume two games being played at the same time. But the release didnt actual state that.

Why have two courts inside Lucas Oil Stadium if only one at a time is being used? To save the 30 minutes in between F4 games?

Quote:Games will be played on two courts inside Lucas Oil Stadium, as well as Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Hinkle Fieldhouse, Indiana Farmers Coliseum, Mackey Arena in West Lafayette and Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington

Oh, I know it's true. I'm just wondering if you're seriously holding up the NCAA's measures to hopefully ensure that a tournament can be played this year amid a pandemic as evidence that CUSA's curtain during normal times isn't bush league.

30 minute turnaround time likely would be 60 or 90 minutes with Covid precautions.

So if you can save 90 minutes of prime TV downtime and quickly “turn & burn” the games, then sure, it makes sense.
