Old Dominion, Charlotte and Marshall have little to identify with Rice, North Texas or Tech. Its just not realistic to believe that we can succeed with such a lack of identity. Many of our top programs going into 2013-2014 have fallen off because their fanbases do not feel energized by who they play and its bleeding over into the programs that have been growing. We suck because we aren't a solidified product and that won't change anytime soon.

I often hear many fans say things like this, I dont understand how teams falling off gets blame placed on lack of interest in the opponent, versus lack of winning on the field. what team that is consistently winning has a fan base that is not energized?

Winning games is one thing, but winning games against a brother or close friend's alma mater is something altogether much different.

I have to disagree with USM still hurting us today. There’s been enough time for USM to get their feet back under them and I think their own fans would agree that they are not back where they should be, but far from the 0-23, or whatever it was, days.

From a pure W/L perspective, sure, but the talent we had on the 0-12 team would wipe the floor with what we’ve had the past few years. Here’s to hoping Hall can recruit some players to get us back where we need to be.

Oh, I don't know about that... You had very little talent in those 0-23 days.

You genuinely have no clue how much talent we had on that 0-12 team.

Lots of talent on that team. Were in several games. They didnt want to win for that loser of a coach. The 1-11 team Monken had was the worst team we ever had. Prob lost by avg of 30 pts. Conference has only gotten worse every year. CUSA has been terrible since the AAC was formed.

USM probably wont remain a piece of this $@#! show much longer.

I genuinely watched my 6-6 owls destroy you guys 41-7 (in your stadium) in 2013 and no one would suggest that we had a juggernaut then.

Yep! SMiss and Marshall would bring the hate like few others to the Sun Belt. Marshall without question. Southern Miss fits like a glove.

The problem as I see it is you folks need an identifiable culture. Branding if you will. Not that difficult. Marketz don't understand this. Their to wrapped up in the lure of big city leverage over the small town traditional U. They can wine and dine the recruit in the 5 star atmosphere while the small town U get's Uncle Shugs BBQ. Sure it works but nothing inspires an athlete to reach his or her potential more than less distraction and a fan base that has them first on the list of cewl things to do.

Just bumping a thread that I've enjoyed. It's tough when the institutions are so vastly different. My pointing to those differences gives me great happiness. Thank you for allowing me to share. 04-cheers

Good Lord, English please.

Everything he said makes perfect sense. Nothing confusing about it.

Agreed.

Of course you do. Bowl season is over with. No need to keep coming over here and sharing your horrible opinion.

So, you suggest dividing teams into conferences by the size of their home cities?

Color me confused...
