It's a mixed bag for UC guys if his grades end up as actuals. Hudson is still pretty much a sure bet to be the first Bearcat picked. He puts him 83rd in the top 100 with a R3 grade. Wiggins is only an R4-5 followed closely by Forrest at R5-6 after his excellent Pro Day. James Smith is his #2 P and gets an R6-7.

Doaks is a preferred free agent while Bruno, Harper, Tucky, White, and Ponder are all regular free-agent candidates.

My expectation throughout has been that we'll see Hudson, Wiggins and Forrest drafted. I also expect, as long as Fickell is in charge, that at least three draft picks a year will be the norm.

Former Cincinnati Bearcats offensive tackle Chris Ferguson worked out at the Cincinnati Pro Day last in March and was picked 27th in the CFL Draft by the Ottawa Redblacks today.

The #1 overall pick was a Punter too.

Punters can score some serious points in CFL games.

Oh, I know. Interesting that 30% of the draft were kickers.

Hudson was a mid round pick during last season...surprises me a bit people still have him slated there after the press he was getting in Sr. game and pro days...still wish he would have come back for a final year of tape to possibly become a top 2 round guy.

RE: 2021 NFL Draft
His 2 biggest games as a Bearcat (CCG and Peach Bowl back to back) were also probably his 2 worst games as a Bearcat. Uncharacteristically, lots of missed assignments and penalties. Wonder how much more weight those 2 tapes have.

RE: 2021 NFL Draft
I haven't broken down the tape but the fact that we scored all our points on the first half plus one play and then the offense completely shut down shows how good he was as a player. After the senior bowl he was blowing up after people got to see him in person. No one questions his on field production. As Mark said this is completely due to his pro day. And I know people think that measurables are overrated but it was bad enough where people have called into question if he can be an NFL starting tackle at his size/athleticism.

Is anyone able to elaborate more on the bad pro day?

He scored roughly around 60th percentile in general athleticism traits, and his bench press number was downright poor (22 reps, the same as Forrest and Wiggins).

I think Doaks gets drafted based on his skills without the ball. He's a very unselfish player that's willing to do whatever it takes to be successful. He fits the Steelers profile perfectly.

Can you pull your name out in the middle of the draft (say, if you aren't selected by Friday night in the first three rounds), and still return to school?

Maybe...but you typically don't see many RBs taken late in the draft. I would be fairly surprised if he is drafted, but he will most certainly get a camp invite and I wouldn't be surprised with him making a 53-man roster at the end of the summer.
