RE: JMU @ VCU
I was impressed, many positives for the Dukes.
But not a fan of Matt Lewis, players like this get you beat over and over again.

That's some crap. There has to be a tenth of a second left and honestly, they should have checked the clock when a
second went off on the inboubds.

RE: JMU @ VCU
The final FTs by Hodge give the Dukes a one point loss.
Never happy with a loss, but it was good to see the team come back from an 18 pt deficit.
There was more to be learned from this game than the first 5 games combined.
A shrinking of the rotation should provide more continuity and development from a team that looks ragged on offense. As of yet, it doesn’t look as if they will win with smart, high percentage basketball. Can the Dukes out-athlete the CAA? Maybe
We have some reasons to believe.

This team could have sat back and taken a 40 point loss, cutting the lead and having a chance at the end gives me reason to be optomistic.

RE: JMU @ VCU
The team fought back in the second half, and actually made some free-throws.
Christmas made a statement he needs more minutes, and maybe should be starting. I think he finished with 17 points, all in the second half.
Close only count in horseshoes and hand grenades, and yet an 82-81 final won a lot of money for the gamblers who took JMU +19.

The fight in this team is terrific. Hodge and Edwards with great games as they looked much more comfortable with their roles in this game. If Christmas shoots in in conference play like he did in the second half and Morse and Fredericks get healthy this team will be a tough out in CAA play.

What a comeback down the stretch by the Dukes! When I said it would be a good contest I didn’t bargain for it being THAT good of a contest. The Rams were lucky to win after that collapse.
Good luck to the Dukes going forward. Go win the CAA.

RE: JMU @ VCU
I couldn’t disagree more with the posters indicating Edwards is good.
He is aggressive.
He is confident
But he is overmatched right now and plays out of control getting his stuff handed to him many times tonight.
He took the second most shots. If he continues taking that many shots, JMU will be near the bottom of the CAA. Put a clamp on him coach.
Maybe he becomes a good player next year or after that. He is part of the problem right now.

Nice comeback, hopefully they can build off that effort. In the past they never were able to build off positive wins or efforts.

RE: JMU @ VCU
With an up and down pressing game, we got some clues on who Coach By is going to play as he only went 8 deep.
Of course, Morse will get starter minutes when he comes back.
Fredericks? A complete unknown X-Factor Until he recovers from injury.
Harvey? When he returns he is probably guard #5. Role player.
Mensah? Nope. Couldn’t even impose his will on Alice Lloyd. 1 minute tonight.
Taylor? Nope. Didn’t even see the floor tonight.

He’s a Freshman and will hopefully adjust his game (& hit his free throws). I think the confidence and aggression is more of a plus right now .

RE: JMU @ VCU
Player of the game - Mike Christmas. 15pts and 5 rebounds and 2 assists playing less than half the game. If someone could tell him that he is much larger than most players he could be much better. He still likes to play a finesse game in a tank body. JMU has a huge void in the paint on both sides of the ball and it looks like they need to fill it by committee.
Wooden plays soft too preferring to float around the perimeter and avoid contact. As he is still filling out, he could be a force in the paint in the CAA if he commits to it. A work in progress and possibly is not being coached into being more physical.

No surprise. Richmond has never won any athletic contest ever.
If you look at their football media guide, their overall program record is something like 1-1273. They are now claiming a 1958 win over St. Margaret's Middle School for Girls. They actually lost the game 74-0, but Beyatchmond is claiming SMMSG's star running back, Gertrude McBanger, who scored 7 TD's all running straight up the middle, was really a 9th grader and therefore ineligible to play on the MS team.
So, technically, thanks to excellent research from recent grads, Tad and Muffy, they now have exactly 1 win in program history. Congrats Beyatchmond! And, shame on you SMMSG and Gertrude McBanger. Sheesh.

Proud of the Dukes. This team showed some heart and fight - Two elements I felt were lacking at times under LR.

Edwards takes the ball to the hoop fearlessly. He got rejected a few times and is not a great dribbler like a point guard (he isn't a point) but I'll take that over what JMU always has had o'plenty, wings standing 15' from the hoop with their thumbs up their asses until the ball gets chucked with no chance at a rebound. Not going to name names but we have one big time now, rarely in a mix up. Edwaeds will mix it up.
Edwards was out of control today because he had the ball in hands too much because Morse was out injured.
Edwards will be good.
