12th ranked NU has a key home-and-home series against Providence this weekend.

It starts Saturday afternoon at 1 pm at Matthews Arena and then at Providence at 3:30 pm. Both games can be seen on NESN.

Providence will be a much better test, especially against goalie Connor Murphy.

NU lost Saturday night 4-1 at Matthews Arena but bounced back Sunday with a shootout win (3-3) at Schneider Arena.

Friday night 16th ranked NU began a home-and-home on the road with 13th ranked Providence.

NU, behind 37 saves from goalie Devin Levi, beat the Friars 2-0. The shutout by Levi was his NCAA-leading sixth of the season, which sets a new team record for single-season shutouts by a single goaltender.

The two teams face off again in Matthews Arena tonight on NESN. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.

16th ranked NU gets the weekend sweep over 13th ranked Providence 4-1 at Matthews Arena.

Gunnarwolfe Fontaine got the ball rolling with a again just like Friday night with a goal to put NU up 1-0. Freshman Jack Hughes scored 2 goals in the win.

This was the first weekend sweep of Providence, a team that’s been extremely tough on NU, since 2009.

NU goes into the break in first place in Hockey East. Both the men’s and women’s teams are in first place!
