hey so just a heads up everyone: unless youre a really top notch G5 schools - 247 and rivals recruiting rankings dont mean as much for G5 schools as it does P5 schools. at the end of the day unless these kids have REAL p5 interest - those services dont really have a lot of information on recruits. try not to sweat 'rankings' these sites have.

THAT BEING SAID - man i wish we had some recruits from Michigan. SE michigan in particular we are DREADFUL at recruiting and i wish we'd make more inroads in this geographic area. Maybe add an assistant down the line with HS coaching experience in the city league or something. I think we only have like 1 recruit from washtenaw county in the last decade or so?

Listen I love CC and feel he’s the almost perfect coach for EMU. Bottom line is he loses too many close games, and he has 25 DBs on the roster which explains the issue with 2.

Yes but the mystery is why the commit to South Dakota? He will probably redshirt here. Still I like the upside.

I would love to see us get more Michigan kids.
But look at the number of recruits we pull out of GA IL and yes OK and,OH. And we got a player from Alabama.

An argument could be made that a higher caliber of high school football is played in these states overall compared to MI.

recruiting rankings dont matter for schools like EMU. do you really think rivals is out there watching tape on every recruit akron or ball state is bringing in? it isnt worth getting worked up about.

Between Evans and Gaines on the edge and Swindle, Manior, and Price in the middle I actually like what we did on the d-line a lot! Manior will be the only none true freshmen, so I don't know how much they'll contribute next year, but the future is exciting.

I agree that the rankings are not the end-all-be-all.

However, while we've been discussing this, we jumped up to more positions. We are now 9th, ahead of Akron, Ohio, and Kent State.

The 'best' (herd way) is to obviously see who else is recruiting him. If a number of schools at our level or better want him, then he is probably a decent recruit.

BTW, do remember, folks, that C.C. does not go for high talent, low character kids.

This essentially puts a ceiling on the program. To win big, sometimes G5 schools need that excellent talent that other schools were afraid to touch.

Buffalo's average MAC recruiting class rankings over the past 5 seasons via 247Sports = 9.8 out of 12. Not once did they finish higher than 7th. And they've had two MAC Championship game appearances (probably a win this year) to show for it.

I like the signees and the DL from the state of Oklahoma looks REALLY good. If what I am hearing is true that 14 Seniors may be coming back, then I think we might be in better shape than I thought. If Myrick and Rush come back, adding in Sheidt, and Speights who will have another yr. under their belt than I think we will be decent. Not great, but MUCH better at the LB spot than I thought if Myrick and Rush were to leave.

Fascinating stat. I'm not worried so much about the stars (although who doesnt want more 3 star guys) as I am the amount of DE's and LB's we are addressing. I trust the CC has a couple JUCO LB's and DE's with bend and a motor up his sleeve. He has done this in the past.
