Malzahn Out
Welp, I didn't have Malzahn as next after Mason, but it makes sense. Still wondering about Pruitt

Mario Cristobal is an interesting name that's out there. Not sure he's ready to leave Oregon, but he's not going to be there forever either.

Hugh Freeze seems to be the early leader. It would make sense since he has beaten Saban a couple of times but would Auburn risk all the violations that come with that guy?

There's talk...at least according to some media...that Kevin Steele could get the job.

It does make sense. He's been a solid DC and his hiring might have saved Malzhan's job a few years ago.

Heard that Steele was a friend of Pruitt's. If they hire someone else, maybe Pruitt makes a run at Steele.

But Steele is probably the right choice for Auburn, if not fun for the coaching carousel.

I think Steele is the right guy. Auburn needs a strong OC and a great QB coach. Do that and we are fine.

I have no dogs in the result but did see this article from al.com absolutely savaging the Auburn program and its coach search. Must have been written by an Alabama fan!

Nope, people down here are absolutely pissed off. This is what happens when you hire a PC guy from Notre Dame to be your AD. He had no finger on he pulse of the donors and I can only say I feel sorry for the kid they hired it's going to be an unfair crapstorm he'll be moving his family into. Total bungle by Greene. Auburn people will see this as a total fail.

Boise State’s Bryan Harsin has agreed to become the new Head Coach at Auburn, per @BruceFeldmanCFB

Considering Harsin got the job, Steele might entertain offers from Pruitt now, IMO, unless Steele doesn't really care who is the head coach at Auburn.

I wouldn't go work for Pruitt right now. Another year and he's likely out the door himself.

If I were Steele then I would stick with Auburn or find another stable position.
