I wasn't impressed with ASU. Now I see how San Diego State kicked their butts on Thursday in Tempe. They look good when they play as a team but they do a lot of 1 on 1. GCU is good. They haven't really challenged themselves on the road so that could come back and hurt them when conference play starts. NMSU is most likely to continue playing from Phoenix once WAC plays starts.

Hopefully, the Aggies can get back on the court soon, get fully healthy, and gain complete eligible... (Jabari Rice (foot injury), Kalen Williams (foot injury), unknown Aggie player (Covid), Mayan Kiir (RS transfer) and Marcus Watson (RS transfer). I still think NMSU can still be the team to beat but our Aggies need court time/game action to develop team chemistry.

I'm starting to wonder if more players tested positive because we haven't heard anything since Wednesday.

Hard to say what is going on. If there was another positive test to another player, the Aggies will remain out of commission quarantining for 14-days.

So GCU comes within a point of knocking off a ranked team and NMSU fans want to talk about why NMSU isn't playing. Is it just me or are we an annoying fanbase?

A GCU win would have done wonders for the WAC's conference numbers. I would love to see the WAC back in the teens for overall conference rankings. GCU is no joke this year.

Dixie is quietly having a solid season. They look very much like CBU did in their first 2 D1 seasons. Glad to see it.

Nah. You guys are good. I can't imagine how frustrating it has to be for NMSU players, coaches and fans to be in the situation you guys are right now. It'd probably be all I could think/talk about, too.

I also wouldn't expect Aggie fans to lead the conversation on GCU's showing versus ASU. I'm glad we didn't have our doors blown off, but understand that it took ASU playing a pretty terrible game to keep it close. This Lopes team showed some good, but also a lot that needs cleaned up and/or improved upon.

I watched that GCU game and oh man that was a heartbreaker. That last shot was almost meant to be the start of a magical season for the Lopes. Doesn’t mean it still can’t be. From what I saw GCU has a shot of being the real deal this year. But good showing either way. We got some WAC teams trending upward. It’s time for the WAC to take the next step and start getting over the hump on games like these. NMSU included. Next time we get to the tourney we need to win a game.

Just curious why the diagnosis is that ASU played a pretty bad game to keep it close, instead of seeing it as GCU contributing to them having a pretty bad game.
Watched the game and both teams seemed to have trouble with the defensive intensity at the guard positions. Plus Frayer had a lousy game by letting the refs get into his head. Not having his solid defense available in the second half hurt. Overall, very solid game for GCU. We are trending in a positive direction under Coach Drew.

This is GCU as we all expected them to be all along. Dan and his influence did a lot to create a high image program, now they have a coach that will help them to play where they belong.

Dixie is in a good place and they definitely belong. Some schools move up and only win a couple games their first few years. Dixie is moderately strong out of the gate. Glad to have them.

All the D2 move ups have all performed very very well with this version of the WAC. The ones that have been weaker were the D1 schools that came from the Great West and the D1 Independents

Did not consider that popping off. Just stating my opinion by agreeing with you. Is that not allowed? Is this board full of overly sensitive people? If so, I may not have too many more posts. I thought the purpose was to share our opinions on WAC basketball and support the team we like.

As a rookie, I'll try to only write bland posts. Please let me know when I am allowed to state my opinion again.

Go Lopes!!!
