Sorry to hear it. How long does one bad test stop you?

If Tarleton has an even remotely decent year, they’ll probably never be able to schedule a game like this again. They’ll no longer fill the bottom feeder spot on anyone’s schedule. First year programs get these type of games easier than anyone, so that ship has probably sailed now.

GCU over Nevada. Best WAC win of the season so far? My GCU thoughts:

Have size
Announcers worst in the WAC
Drew looks like he’s 13 years old
Announcers stink
Lever softer than a box of tissue
Mitgard tough as nails
I hate their announcers
Coeds are grade A
Announcers are terrible
Updating my prediction to replace UTRGV with GCU at second in the WAC
Drew a much better coach than Tan Dan
Announcers are horrible

Great win by the Lopes. Hoping it’ll be a win on Sunday against ASU.

Great win, congratulations to GCU
Every single starter is impressive
Agreed that UTRGV is toast if they play like this
Announcers not really that bad

I was impressed. This is definitely a team not coached by Dan Majerle. The GCU players look like they actually enjoy playing basketball. Nevada played very uninspired basketball.

UTRGV has the second worst announcers (some would say the worst). No surprise the GCU ones don’t bother you.

Agreed 100%. This team has a different feel. I can see they’re getting good coaching and making improvements. Drew is more of a teacher than Dan was. Dan used to say that the ball finds the energy. Sure. Maybe in the pros it works that way. How many times did we hear him in press conferences just blame the kids for not doing well? Someone needs to step up. I’m coaching but they aren’t performing. Yeah... he kinda gave up last year.

Drew brings in some fresh energy and a different approach. I’m eager to see how the next few games go. It’ll reveal more of the character of this team. I fully expect them to get punched in the mouth by the sun devils in the first few minutes. I also expect to see them scrap their way back into it and make it a game. That’s the resiliency we want to see. The mark of a good team that doesn’t panic because an angry thundering coach’s face is turning as purple as their jerseys.

I haven’t been able to catch any GCU games this year. Nevada has been a strong program so I’d assume they are at least decent even with Alford coaching. They look solid enough from the early games. It’s a good win for GCU and the WAC, if for no other reason than it’s a Mountain West team and they aren’t a cellar dweller. Non con wins over decent teams aren’t really that easy to come by and they are crucial to boosting our Net. Kudos to the Lopes.

Per BCG coach’s show, we are scheduled to play at Kansas next year as well.

UVU with a close loss to Wyoming. CBU with a 30 point win over Fresno Pac. Congrats to Dixie St.

Not surprised that Kansas will try to keep the game since this years didn’t take place. Keep your fingers crossed, if you can stay terrible you can probably schedule games like that every season.

RE: Week 3: 12/7 - 12/13
Watching the GCU/ASU basketball game. Remy Martin is an overrated ball hog. I wouldn't categorize him as one of the top PGs in the nation. He dribbles way too much and doesn't rotate the ball to stretch the defense. If not for ASU's defense (steals). GCU would have a double digit lead right now. The chink in GCU's armor is their two bigs (Midtgaard and Lever) are a bit slow defensively. More athletic teams with good size will test GCU. Jovan Blacksher might be the best point guard in the WAC. Although, I feel the WAC really have been able to see what Evan Gilyard can do this season. This season, the WAC is a PG driven conference... Jovan Blacksher Jr. at GCU, Ty Rowell at CBU, Darrion Trammell at Seattle U., Cameron Gooden at Dixie State, and although struggling Javon Levi at UTRGV.

Jovan Blacksher Jr. is a real good point guard. And, he is only a Sophomore. Remy Martin stepped up offensively in the second half to give ASU the win. I still think Remy Martin is overrated as a point guard. He is more of a lead guard than point guard. He can create shots for himself better than for his teammates. ASU wins 71-70.

I wasn't impressed with ASU. Now I see how San Diego State kicked their butts on Thursday in Tempe. They look good when they play as a team but they do a lot of 1 on 1. GCU is good. They haven't really challenged themselves on the road so that could come back and hurt them when conference play starts. NMSU is most likely to continue playing from Phoenix once WAC plays starts.

Such a heartbreaker... I’m proud of their effort though. They gave a ranked team everything they could handle and then some.

The upcoming tournament should be a good test for the Lopes when they’re not on their home court surrounded by thousands of adoring cardboard fans.

For those of you who aren’t alumni and on the athletics mailing list... you can submit a photo and for a fee they’ll do a cardboard cutout of you. I’m going to pass. They’ve already got Betty White, Joker, and Kermit the Frog. I wouldn’t really add much. 03-lmfao

1 point short of knocking off the #23 team. Combined with the Nevada win it looks like NMSU has a real threat this time.
