It basically talks about why the Southland schools want out and join the WAC.

Then it talks about Central Arkansas joining the ASUN.

When will we start hearing rumors about Chattanooga joining?

Why would Chattanooga leave a very established conference like the SoCon, with good football and rising basketball to join a start-up football conference? Plus having to pay $1 million to do it? Basketball is as important to Chattanooga as football, and the ASUN offers nothing in that respect.

With 3 out of conference games possible every year, Chattanooga can schedule JSU & UNA as often as they'd like, why bother changing conferences? Plus they know ETSU would never consider returning to the ASUN.

Eight years from now which Conference will the Catamounts be playing in.

Agree that UT-Chattanooga and East Tennessee State will not be in the ASUN.

I believe it would be in 2026 before the ASUN could use the concept of the UAC to help form a new conference unless a waiver was given by the NCAA. Over the past few months with the COVID-19 situation there has been various news media talks of more regional alignment of teams. You’ll never know a wavier might already be in the works.

Central Arkansas, Jacksonville State, Eastern Kentucky play football in the Big South a year or two until a new conference is formed.

Then add the following schools as a (package deal) UT-Chattanooga, Western Carolina, and East Tennessee State for a total of 8 football schools and to make a core conference.

Next add two of the following Lipscomb, Bellarmine, or Belmont. That would be a great football and basketball conference.

For the ASUN maybe the better question should be what will happen to Jacksonville, North Florida, Stetson, and Florida Gulf Coast.

The ASUN should go after schools from the Peach Belt and Sunshine State Conference.

A lot is going on. There is no doubt the ASUN is wanting Chattanooga. And from what I'm told from Chatty people I know, they would actually consider it if and when JSU, EKU and Central Arkansas join. Yes basketball is a part of Chattanooga, but so is having close rivals and buys in seats. And the One million fee is nothing when the ASUN waives fees and offers other benefits. Who knows?

When is Western Carolina dropping football? That seems to be the consensus among Catamount fans....

I am not sure they are considering the discussion when EKU played them was about making an annual game.

RE: ASUN EXPANSION
Central Arkansas fans are saying there is more buzz about moving to the ASUN... one says it's a done deal. Just waiting on an announcement...

I wonder how long they had been in negotiations before anyone got wind of it? If it was that day, an announcement would probably not come until January sometime.

I'm wondering if any school involved delays any announcement until after basketball season to keep it as much out of the season narrative as possible.

I guess that's possible as well. But personally I wouldn't think of it as a problem... you still play the game before you.

Anyone know how Central Arkansas does in baseball?

For that matter, EKU?

Last season before COVID we were 12-2.
Swept series from Presbyterian (3), Siena (4), and Norfolk St. (3). W in a one day against NKU. Lost 2 of 3 at LSU.

We'll have to see what happens this year. Coach left to go to Georgetown DC.

I love baseball...almost as much as football.

The ASUN is a very good baseball conference. Hopefully UNA gets were they can add to it soon...
