JMU Women's basketball following GMU win
Ok - we're 3-1 following a blowout of George Mason.

1) Wednesday we play a below par GW on local TV. Stay focused, play hard and come away with a double digit win.

2) Next Sunday on ESPN+ (which I have) they play a very solid top 30 "caliber" WVU that is 4-0 and just beat a non-rated UT yesterday at home by 6. It would be a very good win for the team

3) That's it, no other OOC games. Come on Sean/JMU. Find another game or two with at least one against a top 40 team.
a) it could help us at-large wise.
b) it would be get prep for conference play.

If we want to be a top 30-40 program again, let's schedule like it. Try to pickup a game versus an ACC team, or Maryland, or Big East team. There are some quality teams close by that likely has some open dates, and if not now, in the near future due to cancellations.

Go for it. Act like a top program.

It sure seems to me like you’re creating this false dichotomy where Sean and/or JMU can only either “go for it” or not.

We’re 2 days removed from watching JMU try to shoe horn a game in with Maryland which was immediately cancelled due to COVID (on our end!). I sure can’t speak to the logistical challenges of making quick pivots for scheduling in college basketball, but to blindly assume there’s not a third option that may be in play (stick with our schedule to err on the side of caution and safety of our student athletes and staff because the logistics we’ve set up and are properly prepared for are the prudent choice during a worldwide pandemic) seems pretty irresponsible to me.

I believe JMU could only add 1 game. The maximum this season is 25 for WBB if not playing in a Multiple Team Event (MTE), which we are not. 18 CAA + 6 OOC scheduled = 24 so far.

I do hope we can land 1 game though. That's an awfully long break between Dec. 13 at WVU and starting CAA play on NYD without a game. Almost like starting over after a 2 1/2 week break. Perhaps the administration and Coach O will work something to get a game scheduled after watching other teams' schedules get affected by COVID...juggling like so many FB and MBB teams have had to do this fall and into winter.

I was not aware of that. Thanks for getting me straight. 04-cheers

RE: JMU Women's basketball following GMU win
The game at Morgantown per the Mounties' website will be a 6pm tip and will be streamed live via ESPN+. WVU will be well-tested to say the least with games (and wins) under the belts against LSU (by 20), Tennessee (by 6), and then they host Baylor (currently a 1-seed in Charlie Creme's projections) in a Big XII opener Thursday evening, Dec. 10th. Truthfully, if the Dukes could keep the final margin within a dozen points at WVU, that might be a sign of good things to come. Creme has WVU as a 10-seed, but that may rise in his next set of projections after they took care of the Lady Vols this past weekend.

It appears like WVU will be the only possible at-large caliber team on our schedule.

RE: JMU Women's basketball following GMU win
My wife has heard from some of the various online talks such as the fan and press stuff etc that Coach O is still looking to schedule one additional game or to keep the one OOC open in case there is a cancellation of a weekend series during conference play. Would then try to schedule a game over that cancelled weekend to keep the team fresh. However I can only think that in this current situation the ability to schedule a game quickly or even not so quickly is very difficult based on testing protocols, travel limits some schools have instituted etc. I am sure Coach O and the administration are on top of things which seem to change hour by hour.

Go Dukes!!

Actually it appears to me in this current situation it's never been easier to schedule a new game with little notice. Heck BYU (in football) scheduled a game last Thursday to travel across the country to play CCU 48 hours later. With as much preparation as there is for football, and especially playing a team you've not played before, I would not of thought that could happen. We scheduled both UMD and Limestone in a week. I think UMD schedule 3 different new games in less than a week. New games are scheduled daily. With no fans to think about, rescheduling/scheduling has never been easier. This is one of the few positives of Covid.

If a conference game is cancelled, the way the schedule is set up with games on consecutive weekend days, we are likely not losing 1, but 2 games. I won't be surprised at all if that happens to more than a couple of CAA Men's or Women's teams.

What about adding a game against UMD WBB? Their OOC game against Coppin State was cancelled and currently have 24 games on the schedule (19 conference). I'm sure the Dukes want a redo after last year's game; I know I do!

Let's schedule about 3 more games in the next two weeks and see if we can get them in assuming that games will get cancelled along the way this year. If we get to 25 games played, forfeit the rest 04-cheers
