i bring this up because i watched some of st. joe's fall to 0-7 yesterday. they were up 3 then fouled a rhode island guy taking a hail mary shot at the end. ryan daly is out so they're going to struggle to win games. i would agree it was time for martelli to go...but they are most likely serving some bad karma time after the way they handled it.

You're more than welcome to start another topic for other NCAA games. There's enough to discuss outside of the CAA.

RE: Other CAA Games
Towson WBB's games against JMU and their next 4 games are postponed due to Covid issues.

It will be interesting to see if the CAA decides to push up Drexel's games against Elon and play them next weekend since Drexel and Elon will both be off due to their opponent's Covid freezes. Then Drexel and Elon will have a weekend open later on for other potential makeups.

JMU men beat FAU in a late non conference game the other night. NU and HU play tonight in what should give us some idea who the top team may be or which, if both, plan to challenge at the top.

And Elon tests positive so JMU pushed back further from beginning conference play. More midweek games are going to have to happen if they are going to even have a chance at getting most of the games in. Every school needs to be crazy flexible.

RE: Other CAA Games
i'm not keeping track of who can't play because it seems like it's most of the league. are there ways to schedule new games though? like sending jmu to play somebody else. i think the pac 12 was doing that in football. there was a game at like 10 am local time on a sunday because they threw it together last minute.

There definitely is. Just about reaching out to teams in the area. The JMU game against Florida Atlantic was a last minute throw together for them the other night. I think they even made it into a home and home for next season.

I dont know the league protocols, but I would imagine to move around conference games would have to go through the league and cant just be done through the two schools

Correct about moving league games. But one would think that the CAA would want to move around league games similar to the way that MLB adjusted the schedule at the beginning of last season after half of the Marlins team tested positive for Covid.

In WBB it seems like it would have made sense for Drexel to play Elon this weekend since both of their opponents are not playing. Then later on the Drexel/Elon weekend could be left open for other makeup games. There's no fans coming to the games anyway so it makes it easier for last minute adjustments.

Correct. All conference cancellations/scheduling goes through the CAA per the guidelines issued earlier.

RE: Other CAA Games
In the second half, Hofstra repeatedly got within 1, but Hofstra didn't score enough. Down 63-56 at the last media timeout, I said that Hofstra might not reach 63. Not only was I right, but Delaware ended on a 14-0 run to win 74-56. That was on Friday.

Yesterday it took Hofstra 13 second to take the lead for good. They led by 20 in the first half. In the second half, Delaware got within 5, but Hofstra responded and went up 15. Hofstra struggled to score, and Delaware had the final possession down 1. Ebby Asamoah made a three, but it was after the buzzer, so Hofstra held on 68-67. Hofstra scored 26 in the first 10:19 and 42 in the last 29:41. Stafford Trueheart returned from injury to play his first two games of the season. He's a senior who has a majority of his career starts as a freshman. Hofstra used only seven players on Friday, and eight yesterday after sub forward Kevin Schutte returned after missing one game.

Hofstra has players injured where nobody finds out they are injured until they don't play. Sub guard Omar Silverio missed the last seven games, sub freshman guard Zion Bethea hasn't played, sub freshman guard/forward David Green missed the last two games and didn't play well when he was playing, and sub freshman guard Vukasin Masic was helped off the court yesterday unable to put his left foot on the court. Hofstra's current starters have 87.4 percent of their points. Those include 65.4 percent by Jalen Ray, Tareq Coburn, and Isaac Kante who started last season. Sophomore point guard Caleb Burgess who hardly played last season averages 8.3 points and is third in the CAA with 4.8 assists. Freshman forward Kvonn Cramer averages 7.2 points and is fourth in the CAA with 6.8 rebounds. Of the fifteen complete seasons the CAA has statistics for, only one player who didn't average 6.8 rebounds was fourth in the CAA.

UNCW is at Towson today at 2:00 P.M. and tomorrow at 1:00 P.M. It will be UNCW's first CAA games, and Towson has played 1.
