I don’t think JMU had played Army, but I know they are 2-1 against Navy.

Army is wearing the patch of the 25th Infantry Division on their helmets, my old unit. I love it!

Soild color OGs? I see you missed the woodland BDU‘s by a year or 2...

BDUs were just coming in, but we were still wearing jungle fatigues which I preferred. Never a better uniform for the tropics. BDUs were heavy and hot. Jungles were light and cool.
At least you didn‘t have to wear those digital unis that the army wore after they got rid of the BDUs. I was out of the Nat Guard before they switched. After a decade they came to their senses a few years back, and went back to a BDU woodland like pattern..

Yeah, the Army should pay close attention to the idiom, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I don't see that ever happening, though.

Quite a comeback by Coastal to defeat Troy. Now that Coastal is 11-0, what Bowl game should they be eligible for?

My grandfather fought the Germans in France in WWI. I remember the German Gatling gun wounds across his hands. My father fought the Japanese as a 16-year-old Marine in the South Pacific during WWII in such nasty places as Guadalcanal and Bougainville.

We truly don't know how lucky we are and how close we are to losing it all. May God bless us all.

We have yet another thing in common. My father was a marine during the Korean War.

My brother was in the Navy so I pull for America during the game. I try to watch it every year. Nothing makes me feel more American than watching the Army vs Navy game each season.

We are blessed Purple that so many sacrifices were made by men and now women in uniform.

I agree. I went to the Army/Navy game in Philly one year with friends, a couple of them West Point alums. Awesome spectacle!

I guess the current plan is to alternate between West Point and Annapolis every year for the game. That will be even better. I bet it is very difficult to get tickets.

You can say that again:
https://www.military.com/daily-news/2019...iform.html

To try to stay remotely on topic, I thought the football teams that in the previous decade wore the army pixelated digital cammo (UCP) unis as an alternate looked ridiculous because the cammo pattern looked ridiculous. I think a football uni in the old BDU woodland or newer ‘woodland like’ UCP would look pretty cool. Course I’m sure others would feel the opposite...

2021 game is scheduled for East Rutherford, 1st time since 2002. 2022 back in Philly. Locations after that not yet set.

According to wiki, Philly hosted 89 of the 1st 120 games. NYC area has hosted the next most number. Ravens stadium 4 games since 00’. Redskins stadium in 2011.

Army’s Mitchie only seats 34k, and Navy’s stdium 38k according to wiki. Nowhere near big enough. A grand game deserves a big stadium and/or an NFL one. DC/Baltimore/Philly/NYC areas in NFL stadiums are good IMHOP due to their proximity to the academies and nation’s capital.

Apparently only played once west of the Mississippi, at the Rose Bowl. Would be neat I think to see it played in San Diego (huge Navy prescence) or Seattle where you have a huge Army/Navy/AF prescence (your 25th now at Ft Lewis, no?) in the area. Or in the south where you have a lot of military bases. A big stadium with an opportunity for a large # of the grunts/enlisted who are now serving, to be able to go with for free..

Thanks, BDK. I didn't know all that. The game I was at in Philly was packed. Veterans Stadium has a capacity of about 62,000. So, yeah, I think an NFL stadium is needed for the game.

I believe the 25th ID is now fielding an incredible 5 brigades. When I was on active duty, we had two active infantry brigades at Schofield in Hawaii and a roundout brigade of Hawaii National Guard, scattered around the state.

Today, there are three infantry brigades, two still at Schofield, one in Alaska, plus an airborne brigade in Alaska, and an aviation brigade at Wheeler Field (near Schofield).

The 25th has always been a light infantry division, very deployable in a hurry, which is why it has played such a major role in just about every war. And, Hawaii is where everyone wants to go, so the Army's superstars are found there in abundance. All of the other officers in my first company were West Pointers. Our company commander was the son of the Commanding General of the 101st Airborne Division. Like Dad, he also retired a general. One of the other platoon leaders also retired with three stars. Our battalion commander was a West Point All-American football player and Vietnam Special Forces type. He became West Point's AD after leaving Hawaii. His wife was an Olympic gold medalist swimmer. And, all of them were very humble and friendly people. It all seems like a dream now.

Assuming Cincy wins the aac and coastal wins the belt, both could qualify for ny6. Cincy with the access bowl and coastal as an at-large.

A Coastal win and Cincy loss and coastal gets the AB.

A coastal loss and they go to the Cure Bowl (most likely) and will probably play Marshall/UAB.

Thunderstruck - can you let us know estimated payday for Coastal in these bowl scenarios?

Wait, didn't PukeDawg tell us the Coastal season was "meaningless" and they were "getting zero media attention."

If they go to the Peach Bowl (Access Bowl), from what I can find Coastal will cash a $4,000,000 paycheck not to mention the additional CFP money. From everything I could find, the Fiesta is also $4MM.

NoLa is $825,000
Cure is $573,125
Myrtle Beach is unannounced.

Ok, mid 90s to mid 00s’ the 2th had a brigade at Ft Lewis, but no longer. I just remeber hearing in the mid 90s-00’ when I was in the NG that the 25th was at Schofield & Ft Lewis. Looks like I’m about 15 years off lol..

Speaking of the 101st, Ft Campbell KY/TN only about an hr from Nashville. Think that would be another cool location to have the Army/Navy game.
