DON'T LOOK IT UP ....
And I haven't done so, either. But off the top of your head give me 3 lists.
Top 5 MAC basketball teams the last 5 years ... the last 10 years ... the last 20 years.
Last 5 years I'd say
1. Buffalo
2. Kent State
3. Toledo
4. Akron
5. Ball State/OU
Solid dropoff between 1-2, with the only difference between 2-3 is Kent's NCAA slot (2017) ... then another dropoff with Akron surrounding some bad years with 2 MAC reg season titles. Toss a coin between BSU/OU after that.
That's off the top of my head. But you get the idea.
I think what you see is how fickle things can be in a 1-bid league from year to year.

Couldn't help it ... I peeked.
So here's the last 10 years ...
1. Buffalo - 4 NCAAs plus a couple other 20-win seasons
2. Akron - 2 NCAAs, 3 NITs-- never won a game but that's another story.
3. Kent - 1 NCAA, 1 NIT no losing seasons
4. OHio - 1 NCAA, 1 NIT
5. Toledo
The tossup is 3-4 with OU getting to S16 in NCAA and Kent to E8 in NIT difference is no losing seasons for Kent.

Toledo played in the NIT vs Southern Miss in 2014 after they lost to WMU in the MAC finals. They also played Xavier in the NIT a couple years ago after a quarter final exit vs. NIU. Willie Jackson did not play because he hurt himself dunking in pregame. We played that NIT game with barely any bench.
The way to really tell is 12 points for a first place reg season finish. 1 for last place. 6 bonus points for a title loss. 12 for a tourney title. UB would lead with some 24 point years.

I'd adjust that a bit... 6-points for making MAC Tournament final, 2 more points for winning it all. Personally don't think winning 3-4 tournament games equals winning a reg. season title. I know the NCAA reward is greater, but still.
