O/T The MBB game of the decade or century?
Not a MAC team involved but sounds like records were set like crazy.

IL. State (a school I actually wanted in the MAC) played Greenville. The Redbirds were scoring like crazy yesterday. Guess there is no mercy rule in NCAA.

Maybe a few of the Greenville Panthers should have started coughing in the 2nd half... That works during a pandemic.
Yep, 177 points. 83 at the half.

Greenville

GRE 50 58 108
ILST 83 94 177

Greenville is one of those shoot a three early in the shot clock every possession teams I believe. They also recently lost to Murray State 173-95

They are 0-4 and have given up 177, 174, 173, and 138 points.

They play at a completely frenetic pace and it works against their DIII competition. They were 14-13 last year and averaged 136.6 points per game.

Sounds like a NBA all-star game of just scoring and playing no defense.

1. Clearly isn't the game of the century, that award goes to the Dunder Mifflin Sales vs. Warehouse matchup of 2005.
2. It wasn't this century, but Troy-Devry way back was certainly one for the ages.

When I first saw that, I wasn't sure what was more remarkable. That the winner scored 177 points, or a team scoring 108 points got completely blown out.

Crazy. One guy came off the bench and was 7 - 10. Not to be out done, another went 8 - 11. Not to be out done, the next went 9 - 11.

The NCAA record for most points scored in a game is 186-140, Loyola Marymount vs. US International University.

https://www.upi.com/Archives/1991/01/06/...0Bradshaw.

A player on the losing team scored 72 points.

So the 177 went for naught. No record. Just pad the stats... 03-lmfao

Here is the stat that catches my eye...Illinois State was 62 for 67 for 2-point shots. That's 92.5%. I'd guess that's a ton of layups. Most players couldn't hit 92% of layups in practice, alone in a gym. I imagine that most of those were uncontested

Yeah, that kind of stat grabs me: When a team does something in a game that they couldn't do in practice without being guarded.

The adrenalin must have been flowing... 02-13-banana
