20 names to know as the college football coaching carousel gets going
Are Buffalo fans worried about Leipold leaving?

https://theathletic.com/2228190/2020/11/...-campbell/

Quote:16. Lance Leipold, Buffalo

Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Utah State at least need to kick the tires here. He won six Division III national titles at Wisconsin-Whitewater. He left for Buffalo, one of the hardest places to win in college football, and he has kept winning. The Bulls are 23-9 the past thee years, and he keeps finding and developing talent like RB Jaret Patterson.

19. Sean Lewis, Kent State

The former Syracuse assistant has done a remarkable job at one of the toughest FBS jobs in the country. A 34-year-old former Wisconsin player, Lewis has the Golden Flashes 3-1 and led them to their first bowl win last season after going 2-10 the previous year. He’s probably a longshot for South Carolina but could be in play if Illinois opens.

Why would anyone leave Buffalo for Utah St.? Just hangout at Buffalo and wait for a P5 opening. Also, I'd stay away from Vandy. It's a graveyard for coaches that only Franklin was able to escape.

Who knows, Carey left for Temple. A program that isn't close to touching the history of NIU.

I believe Lance would only leave for a place he knows he can win at and he has connections in the geographical area so the SEC doesn't make a whole lot of sense for him. I could see Big Ten jobs as potential threats, but if he gets another raise after this year, who knows

Yeah i agree, i don’t see Lance leaving for a random higher paying gig.
I think he’s happy and comfortable at UB, he’s built a good program, helped with all the facility upgrades. He has a real good thing going. i heard anecdotally that at 56, he’s not keen on moving his family around and starting over somewhere new with a rebuild.
As you said, if Wisconsin or some Big Ten team came calling that’s another story.

I hate this, because it's simply not true anymore.. in the past 10 years UB has had three truly terrible seasons
* 2010 - 2-10
* 2011 - 3-9
* 2016 - 2-10

Outside of that they have five wining seasons, two division titles, and four bowl appearances.

Nobody will be writing songs about how awesome our program is, yet, but the "hardest place to win" has not been true since Turner Gill set foot on Campus.

Meh... Oat's left for Alabama...

When someone comes along and offers you 5-10 times what you're making *and* better facilities you gotta take a swing at that pitch.

Look at it this way. Turner Gill lasted what, two years, at Kansas? With the buyout of his contract he made in two years there what would have taken a decade at Buffalo (at least).

Oh haha, I thought I was being quoted as saying that and I thought to myself I don't remember ever saying that.
