From an outsiders perspective though, there is no doubt that had your Flames not had a Top 25 team with a hot-commodity Hugh Freeze, this wouldn't have remotely been chosen for ESPN GameDay. The stories of both programs made this a good pick.

I guess that means we technically didn't host GameDay then, even though it was a home game for Troy. ESPN hosted it on a Naval ship.

Best part is Troy smacked Navy 41-31, after being dissed on GameDay by Herbstriet.

Anytime Herbstreit gets slapped around is a good day.

What Coastal has done with a coach that not only makes $2,681,134 less than Hugh Freeze, but makes the least of any coach in the entire FBS, AND took the largest pay cut (*due to covid) of any school in the Sun Belt is beyond extraordinary. I admire what Freeze his doing to restore is reputation as well.

This game is WELL worth being a Gameday game, and definitely worth watching.

Coastal is number 16 in all time win percentage and two of those Sun Belt schools are above any team you have played this year. If you want to talk about historically good teams.

Our Sun Belt schedule gave us a win over a top 25 team on the road this year. Yet another thing Liberty has never achieved.

Yes. And VT. Both historically pretty decent programs. Played horrible and still almost beat NC St. Kansas on the other hand....
