If App were in ULL’s shoes and a player needed a week off for the title game they’d take it. No doubt about it.
The goal every year is to win the conference title first.
I can assure you that the team feels disrespected after not making an appearance in the CFP top 25. So I appreciate your attempt to explain away why we wouldn’t want to bring our “A” game to Boone in December (which shouldn’t have ever happened, but whatever). However, I can assure you that our guys want nothing more than to beat App State in Boone. But if it makes you sleep better at night thinking that this game doesn’t matter to our guys, good luck with that.

Yea, not buying the thought that this game doesn't mean as much to UL. I'm sure they want to beat us and beat us bad for what the series has been over the past several years, plus fighting for ranking adds more motivation to it as well. I don't think it really matters though as App is about TD better with both teams playing up to potential. I think it comes to this:
-Good Zac Thomas shows up, App wins by a score.
-Bad Zac Thomas shows up, UL wins by 1-2 scores.
-Good Zac Thomas + Cold weather/snow shows up, App wins by double digits with game over several minutes into the 4th.

RE: Week 14 Sunbelt Projections
Your putting words in our mouths, no one said the game wasn’t important to UL, and no one said they wouldn’t play hard or try to win, what we are saying for the 3rd or 4th time, is maybe, just maybe, it would be prudent for Napier to take out a few of the more risky plays out of the play book, naked rollout for Lewis comes to mind, and instead of risking injury trying to gain an extra half a yd, they instead go out of bounds. Look, I get the apparent obsession Napier has with beating APP, I’m sure he still wakes up in a cold sweat with the miracle on the mountain nightmare while HC at Furman, and he probably to a certain degree blames us for not getting that championship that would elevate his career, but you guys have to let it go.....your get that win...eventually (actually think the odds are in your favor it happens this week, amazed it hasn’t happen yet)

I don't know who will win the Cajuns vs app state game, but I can assure you that the Cajuns will go all out to try and get the monkey off their back of never having beat App State. As far as the weather, this will not be a factor if the Cajuns stick to what they do best: run the damn football.
I am hoping for a good injury free game. May the best team win.

Weather probably will not be a huge factor, as of this morning, 30 degrees but no wind or rain/sleet/snow, ball will be slick so maybe a few more dropped passes and maybe a fumble or two more.

App opens as a -3.5 favorite. App has only covered twice this year, living off the public perception of the last 3-4 years.

This! I'm hoping the Apps win this one but I fully expect it to be a slugfest between two teams that both have the proverbial "chip on their shoulders."

Maybe more chance of colder/snow with later kick off.

Current forecast shows 29 with light flurries. Luckily it isn't supposed to be very windy.

This game was circled on the calendar back when it was supposed to be played in October. I see no reason why it still wouldn't be.
It's going to be an all out war.

One thing I've noticed in the App/ULL games under Napier is the players hit hard, but don't talk a lot after the play. Which is interesting because I've seen both team share words with other programs (App w/ GS and GA St., and ULL with Ark St.).
I used to see it from CCU back in the FCS days (not in the SBC days) and ULL under Hud, when they weren't down 30 points.

I wouldn’t expect much trash talk. Y’all have absolutely owned the series history.

Yep, this game is typically, let your actions do the talking, shows a lot of respect between the programs.

I don't think there is usually as much trash talking that takes place when two teams respect each other.

I thought it was funny watching the ULM game last week that some of the ULM plyers were trash talking and shaking their finger at Cajun players well into the 3rd quarter. At that point, they were getting slaughtered. For the most part the Cajun players did not respond.

They’ve been doing that all season, I don’t understand it either. But I guess when you’re getting your teeth kicked in every week, the score doesn’t matter all that much.
