ULM Fans on game day
In honor of today’s game, you have to admit Warhawk fans.....the Southland is looking nice right about now.

RE: ULM Fans on game day
Our recruiting class is one of the best in the Sun Belt, we’re not going anywhere. This is still preferable to the Southland:

42-14 with a few mins left in the first half. We'll see a lot of fresh faces in the second.

I would guess so it’s preferable, but y’all are basically the sunbelt Kansas without the basketball contribution.

According to ESPN BPI rankings, ULM is actually among the worst D1 basketball teams in America. They rank between powerhouses Incarnate Word and Florida A&M. Calling ULM anything more than a corpse in this conference would be a lie.

Lmfao hahahah, I’m not gonna lie. I’m actually pretty happy with the sunbelt besides the stain we call ULM, I’d really consider trading them for UNO at least we’d get to go to New Orleans.

I don't see any benefit from rubbing salt on the wound. They usually play us hard to the end. This year was bad for them. They already know it; there is no point in rubbing it in.

Show some class dude.

They drag down the quality of the conference in both the important sports and show virtually no signs of upward trajectory. It’s nothing against the fans nor the institution. But these are competitive sports, not participation awards.

For the same reason I wouldn’t want Akron or FIU or McNeese State in the conference, I don’t want ULM.

You made some good points, I think he was talking to the other guy that called us a stain. But there are some signs of upward trajectory. As of now we have the second best 2021 recruiting class in the conference (per 247sports), and our new president that started in September has at least paid lip service to taking athletics seriously.

Thought we all agreed to give everyone a pass on attendance smack talk this season....

Also, ULM has given the conference more P5 wins then most. And basketball has been in a post season tournament 4 of the last 5 years(CBI and CIT), not including 2020.

I think we all would like ULM to be better, but not more then ULM fan. I know I’d like South to be better.

This is exactly what I’m getting at, I don’t look at the sunbelt as just football I’m looking at it as a whole with all sports, they have may little to no improvements to their programs, still have the lowest athletic budget in the country for FBS, and I understand they have a good number of P5 wins but that hasn’t translated into winning seasons, they’ve been to 1 bowl game. I could understand back in the day when the sunbelt had 1 bowl tie in, but I mean come on we have 5 now.

ULM will decide its own fate. Not fans on a message board.

As pointed out, they've recruited pretty well (but signing day isn't here yet) and they do have a new president. That's big because Nick Bruno was an albatross when it came to athletics.

But time is running out. An already strapped financial situation is even worse because of COVID. And, even with a new president, can ULM start putting enough money in the coffers to stay afloat? And, can they do it quickly enough?

And, can they talk Viator into staying? He's a very good football coach...IMO, the best ULM has had since moving up to 1-A/FBS.

I think the time is critical for the Warhawks.

The thing is, dropping to FCS doesn’t save a ton of money, and the revenue would be much less. Where you could save is the need for 16 sports, but you’re still looking at a big drop in revenue from conference TV contracts. As small as the SBC is compared to P5 conferences, just look at how much FCS conferences pay out, if they do, do they, I really don’t know. ULM is here to stay, hopefully Louisiana, as a state, can better position themselves financially. It wasn’t that long ago that there was consideration of the whole state, even LSU, ceasing football operations, as little reality as that had. Has the state even recovered from that??? And now add a new financial hit with 2020.
