Game #1 Take 2: Pittsburgh
I see Drexel as being 10 point underdogs in this one. The ESPN match predictor shows us as having a 18.5% chance of winning. Probably a fair assessment since the Dragons haven't exactly been road warriors. That being said this could be a chance to get things started right. Pitt lost their opener by 10 to St. Francis, a team that lost their two top scorers from a year ago and were playing with a roster made up of nine guys that didn't play on the team a year ago.

Pitt is a bottom tier team in the ACC but they are still an ACC team so I would imagine they will have the edge athletically against us. One familiar face though is Ithiel Horton who transferred there from Delaware.

Hopefully Drexel will make a good showing. With Sam Green gone, the last tie to the Bruiser Flint era is gone (while he never played for Bru, he was recruited and signed under him).

You trailed by 12 at halftime and lost 83-74. Your problem was that Pittsburgh shot twos 26-31 (.839). Xavier Johnson had 27 points, 8 assists, and 6 rebounds. He made 3 of 7 threes. Everyone else on both teams combined to shoot threes 5-31 (.161). You shot twos 27-43 (.628) and threes 3-19 (.158). Wynter scored 24 by making 9 of 11 twos, 1 of 5 threes, and all 3 free throws. He had 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Bickerstaff scored 19. Walton scored 13. Butler scored 12 and had only 8 rebounds. You didn't block any shots. Juric scored 1 but led you with 5 assists and tied with Wynter with 3 steals. Pittsburgh got 66 of 83 points from three players who combined to shoot 23-35 (.657).

It was a promising game, though our defense clearly lacked. I am hopeful this game is what we will see form Bickerstaff this season, and not just a first game hoorah like last year. He looked real good. I know we have been saying for 4 years now but clean up the defense and this team looks solid. Being a road game, this one gives me even more hope, in that we never gave up and fought the entire game.
