We were a minus 12 on glass so yes, Dodd and Steere and yes Phillips would have changed that. Plus everyone gets better looks because you have to honor Phillips and cheat to help.

Did the coach even give a reason why Phillips and company did not play??? He is absolutely vital for this team and heck even our back up PG was out too. That sucks and it killed us today and going forward. I’m mad as heck!!!!

Bill I don’t disagree, but with Phillips out here today some of what he adds subtracts from what Simms brought. We got the crap beat out of us in the second half. And the half court D was absolutely terrible

We ran out of gas without Shy and couldn’t freaking score in 2nd half because he was not there. He IS the difference period. Sims is going to get his but other guys will get better looks with Shy and then Mike can do his thing Off the freaking ball. Sucks!!!! Coach needs to explain this crap at least. We just want to know the deal why they weren’t playing ???

Phillips out didn't cost the game, but he and Steere out may have. Phillips is light years ahead of anyone else at PG on this team, and a true PG who can make your offense work is a must. Steere would have had the size in the paint to score, rebound and defend. That's two of five starters in two of the most important positions out. It would have at least been a close game.

This does not tell why shy wasn’t playing or Steere or Carr? As alumni and fans of the program, the coach should at least tell us that it’s a violation of team rules, illness or injury. I would be fine if we just knew why we played without 2 PG and our center. That is the frustrating thing here.

He should have explained why they were not playing this weekend. Apparently Shy and Ian Steere are injured and Carr was out for personal reasons. At least we know a little bit more now.

Shocking how many times UNCW was beaten on the dribble-drive, and it wasn't just one guy. Happened consistently and it often looked like a layup drill for WCU. Move your feet. Play off a guy, force 'em to take a jumper. Move to create weakside help. Ugh. Got outmuscled inside, too. And, not having Shy Phillips, as we saw last season, made the offense sluggish.

Will we win a game this weekend?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say a couple things again. Prior to yesterday’s game Siddle had ZERO head coaching experience. It’s gonna take some time and we’re probably going to have to exercise a lot of patience. This is our 2nd straight hire in which we hired someone who had never been a HC at any level. Hopefully this one works out, but just because he was Keatts’ assistant isn’t a guarantee. Some of y’all should think about that and temper your expectations. Speaking of Keatts, a lot of y’all seem to forget that we played a 94’ press, but if it was broke... we didn’t have anything that resembled a defense. The games Keatts lost... that was why, and his refusal to adapt. Again, being real here some of y’all should remember that and temper expectations.

I’m not sold on Tolefree because what he’ll give you on defense is great but IMO he’s a liability on the offensive side of the court. Dodd getting less PT than Bowen though? Siddle needs to explain that mess. It makes zero sense. I also agree with the fact Siddle needs to be straight up and explain most importantly why Steere didn’t play, as well as the extent of Shy’s injury and why he didn’t even travel with the team. His presence lacking doesn’t help team chemistry in the future when he can play.

Referring to Steere, him in street clothes draws immediate concern. Why? Because if he’s not listed as injured, and not playing in addition to the history and red flags with him that a couple of us tried to emphasize to some of you... that seems like a problem we should keep an eye on. I don’t trust Steere as a player we can depend on, and this just adds to that distrust.

Tolafree can really drive the ball well and can stick a 3. Very underrated player to me. He can score way better than people think.

Steere is injured according to Dan Spears twitter as is Shy.

I hear Steere has a minor shoulder injury. I take it he ttraveled with the idea he might be able to play the next two games. I also heard Shy has a nagging foot or ankle injury.

There is no way for this team to compete with that many players not able to play. Our entire gameplan depends on the offense being able to score so we can press.

Boggs and Simms were 11-23 and the rest of the team were 12-39 for a combined total of 37.1%. That doesn't happen if Phillips and Steere are out there. I like the Jenkins kid, but if he's playing, we're in trouble.

We are a guard oriented team, and Okaru/Gadsden/Harvey were 11-32 from the field and 1-13 from three.

Even with our missing players, the most perplexing roster move I saw was Bowen starting over Dodd and then playing Dodd just 11 minutes. Sorry, Bowen is too soft to play the five for any length of time. He also has ZERO offensive game. Would not be surprised to see that change tomorrow.

The good news is that Simms seems to have gotten his 3 pt. shot back and only had three turnovers although he handled the ball a lot. Boggs also had a very solid game with zero turnovers, eight rebounds, seventeen points and shot over 50% from the field and 60% from three.

Okauru and Gadsden are both 5th year seniors, they have got to play much better.

I don't think this game provides any long term implications unless Steere and Phillips will miss a lot of games. Until we play a few more games, and they are on the court, I don't think I can make a determination about this team one way or the other.

We shouldn’t rely on them for any stories going forward. They’re a local publication, but not even a good one. I can’t imagine their online product is any better.
