I fully agree with this!

When South came to GS several years ago as a double-digit favorite and lost 52-0 I knew Joey Jones had mailed it in and was done.

The South-Troy game kinda had the same feeling TBH, though South stopped the bleeding in the second half.

I listened to last weeks coaches Teleconference, and one of his answers had that " mailed it in" tone. it stuck a cord with me just listening to it from a outsider perspective.

Not a list I would particularly like if it were my team, though I admit I prefer FCS head coaches to P5 assistants.

An FCS coach like Steve Campbell?

Sure, or Jamey Chadwell, Willie Fritz, or Scott Satterfield.

Finally, a glimmer of hope. Campbell never brought any excitement to the program and was a horrible recruiter. There might have been a slight improvement in game management and discipline under Campbell, but he doesn't seem to relate to the players like Jones did. Say what you want about Joey, but I'd love to have seen how he could sell a brand new OCS to a recruit. This is a big moment for Erdmann. Please hit the ball out of the infield this time around.

RE: Fire Steve Campbell
This is the year for a Sun Belt team to get a higher profile new head coach opposed to what would have been available in the past. with the attention the league has gotten, any AD can sell the job as a legitimate chance to be noticed and move up in his career. As well as the lack of open positions its a no brainier for a up and coming younger guy ready for his own team.

I'm surprised that Steve Campbell couldn't win .500 at USA. I think it's still worthwhile to look at established FCS coaching units. When looking at assistants, you could mess around and end up with a Tyson Summers. Your fall won't be as far as ours, but a fall is a fall and a situation like that could set y'all back a decade.

I agree! Louisiana tried that "P5 assistant" thing with Napier and look how that tuned out. Wait never mind.03-drunk03-drunk

I said it in another thread and I’ll say it here. Chadwell will end up at UT before Napier.
