“ Important to note that 26 of the 51 scholarship players in uniform today for Temple are freshmen, and more than 20 of those 26 rookies have seen minimal or no playing time this season.”

Not that it makes me feel any better and Rod Carey should be shot into the sun anyways

We have 39 Freshmen or Sophomores on our 2-deep for this game.

Today's defensive line was:

DEFENSIVE END
99 Chris Willis 6-2 260 Gr-TR
97 Immanuel Hickman 6-3 263 Fr-RS
92 Kareem Stinson OR 6-3 259 Fr-HS
91 Jason Romero 6-4 222 Fr-HS
DEFENSIVE TACKLE
45 Rick D’Abreu 6-2 253 So-1L
96 D’Angelo McKinnie 6-4 281 So-1L
52 D’Anta Johnson 6-2 295 Fr-HS
DEFENSIVE TACKLE
90 Elijah Morris 6-1 283 Fr-HS
58 Xavier McIver 6-1 310 Fr-HS
70 Jason Shuford 6-4 324 Fr-HS
DEFENSIVE END
33 Damir Faison 6-2 255 So-1L
55 Dre Terry 6-1 248 Jr-SQ
94 Elijah Robinson 6-4 240 So-TR

This was basically a JV game today.

As for Temple, I’m not one for excuses, but we have half our scholarship players out for the last several weeks. Many teams around the country have postponed or cancelled games with far less attrition. My concern is looking ahead, the damage this season does to our recruiting and support. I can only hope that Carey can rally the team, use the us against the world mentality, to build the Owls back up.

Have they viewed it as a young talent developmental year? With how the NCAA has handled this season for eligibility a lot of schools see it that way.

A W is as W. Would have liked it to have been more but won't discount what it was considering our AAC tenure of matches with Temple.

Yes, a win is a win, well done. My point had to do with how this season will affect Temple in the years to come. I worry about player retention, recruitment, and support. I don’t know that Carey can dig us out of the hole this season has been.

Well good luck, I like the gritty style Temple has played over the last 6 or 7 years.

This was basically a JV game today.

12 of our 22 starters today were FR or SO.

15 of our SR/GR are regular contributors. Only 6 of them played.

Only 3 of our JR class played.

Until today Elijah Morris was a walk-on starting on the D-Line. He was placed on scholarship after the game.

Skip to 2:00 mark below to see ECU's Tyler Snead disappear into thin air after leaping into the empty stands & celebrating the TD with his teammates. Track his jersey number and helmet but once he jumps back on to the field he totally vanishes only to reappear with other teammates on a completely different area of the field, seconds later.

No wonder he gets open so much. He's a ghost.

On Stephen Igoe's HTC podcast, he says reports are that Carey and staff were aware of the player's girlfriend with COVID on Thursday or Friday. They waited until 15 minutes before the game to make it known. It seems as though they were trying to get out of playing the game because of the quarterback situation and other players being out.

2020 has been bad for the Pirates and everyone else, but really bad for Temple. The results don't show it yet, but I'm excited for what Houston is doing on D and other rebuilding (not exactly sure what he's doing on offense). Looking forward to playing next year and hope everything has a semblance of normalcy. Maybe we'll have more evenly matched teams. 04-cheers

We're on our 7th string QB. We don't even have a backup QB for Cincy. We have no business playing a game.
