RE: Game Thread: Georgia State @ Appalachian State
This is a sports message board where fans come to have conversations about the prior games and upcoming ones. If you’re looking for the roses and rainbow discussion I’m sure their are forums for that.

So I guess a belief in "the sky isn't falling" for one's football program is not welcome here?

RE: Game Thread: Georgia State @ Appalachian State
Coach is afraid of having an objective conversation. You believe a couple negative comments mean fans are giving up on this week and the season... wrong.

Everything isn’t 100% great or awful with our program.

We have a great defense, average special teams (improved from the first two weeks), and an offense that has regressed from last year in both top end talent and creative/versatility in game planning/adjustments.

The range of outcomes is much greater week to week than the last four years as consistency isn’t as good.

RE: Game Thread: Georgia State @ Appalachian State
It's not about afraid of having an objective conversation, I'm just not jumping the gun on a new coaching staff who, while dealing with all the effects of covid & 2020, is still able to be 6-1 while still transitioning with all that's going on. Program isn't 100% great and hasn't been past 5 years either. Doesn't mean we're in trouble.

Half of us freaked out last year when the defense gave up 40 some to UNCC and everyone wanted to fire Ted Roof ... I refuse to have a knee jerk reaction after 1 or 2 bad offensive games.

Who is freaking out? Did someone suggest firing the OC mid-season?

People are having a rational conversation, while hard to find in 2020, it is possible.

You didn't say Peterson should be fired, but you did say he was a bad hire and has never been a good OC. That is basically saying Clark doesn't know what he's doing and the offense isn't any good. The numbers just don't support that. We were down significantly in talent and depth at several key Offensive positions, which significantly limits your playbook. I'm willing to wait it out before pronouncing the offense a bust.

He was a questionable hire.

I guess all the other teams GA St faced this year had more talent and depth? Those numbers support that?

well to be fair, that was the most points UNCC scored on an FBS team sans UMASS, who are essentially an FCS team. So a little concern was warranted.

I would say scoring 7 and 3 in the first half of Marshall and GSU warrant a little concern.

Uh, you didn’t hire him away from us. He was at LaTech, ECU, and Mizzou after us.

You can't determine how good/bad a team is based on a particular game. There are simply too many variables that come into play. It's why champions are determined by an entire season and not just games against certain teams.

This week's game will determine if we play for a championship or not. I hope the game plan is much better than pound it up the middle and hope our defense keeps us within striking distance.

But a week after, App goes to Chapel Hill and beats UNC. Clemson almost loses to that same UNC in Chapel Hill(I'm sure Clemson fans were not happy with the performance) they of course go on to win the ACC & make the CFP Final.
Past two years, App loses two games to GS that we know they shouldn't have, but we still go on to win the SB title and NO Bowl both years.
In 2017, App gets blown out by ULM, only to follow that up with 4 blowout wins earning a SunBelt Title and bowl win.

While a bad game or two may warrant a little concern, it does not define a season. Relax, this is football, enjoy the ride.
