RE: Sun Belt Basketball OOC Opponents
From niche.com:
Carver is a non-denominational college located in Georgia. It is a small institution with an enrollment of 37 undergraduate students. The Carver acceptance rate is 100%. Popular majors include theological and ministerial studies, psychology, and business. Carver graduates 44% of its students.
The national ratio is that 56% of all college students are female. Assuming that ratio is true of Carver, that puts them at 16 men going to Carver. According to their website, they have 14 players on their basketball team. Does that mean around 88% of all male students are on the basketball team? If Georgia Southern wants to scout them out, it looks like they play Troy on November 18.

Not even worth posting ours... oh yeah, one game vs Wofford.
So tired of bad scheduling. And coaching. And recruiting.

Between budget cuts and travel restrictions, scheduling was just extremely difficult for everyone this year. Think you'll see more non-D1 teams on everyone's schedules this year than ever.

That may be true, and for some it’ll be a change. For others of us, it’s just more of the same, disguised as “tough COVID circumstance”. I mean, we play in the Carolinas, with Georgia right next door, as in tons of “regional” programs.
Yet we bring in NCCAA Div 2, Alice Lloyd College (mind you, not NCAA, that’s NCCAA - National Christian Colleges Athletic Association, and Div 2 at that... did you know they even needed a Div 2?) from Pippa Passes KY, over 8 hrs away... more than half way to Cincy. Smh.
Guess we couldn’t get another Canadian Vo-Tech school to come this year, what with the border closed... dang COVID.

I like our somewhat boring schedule...
Scott Cross needs these kind of games to give all these young players we have some experience, and hopefully some confidence. The schedule bodes well for a coach who's trying to rebuild a program.

Honest question, how do budget cuts make teams schedule more non-D1 games? ULM has the lowest budget in the conference and 0 non-D1 games this season. Why pay them to come play when you can schedule a regional home-and-home?

Better yet, why pay them at all, when you’re trying to get as many wins in higher quadrants as possible. For the 3 wins to make your record look better? Get you to that magically, “our program has had 20 wins per year for X seasons”? Umm, depending who your coach is, and how many wins he is chasing in his all time total, yes.
