RE: 2020-2021 Bubas Cup standings
Finally:
https://sunbeltsports.org/sports/2014/1/...asCup.aspx

1. Coastal Carolina (40.5)
2. South Alabama (38.5)
3. Arkansas Sate (38)
4. Appalachian State (32)
5. Texas State (31.5)
6. Louisiana (30.5)
7. Troy (25.5)
8. Georgia State (24.5)
9. Texas-Arlington (21.5)
10. Little Rock (16.5)
11. Georgia Southern (16)
12. ULM (7)

As I mentioned before, my calculations were based upon last year's guidelines. The wording has not changed from last year to this year, but there does seem to be some differences in how they are making the calculations this year, so my previous numbers are slightly off. There are two sports where my numbers are skewed: Women's soccer and football.

Women's soccer: The conference apparently used the conference record percentage for each team instead of the conference record (makes sense with the unbalanced schedule). This would give Arkansas State the regular season championship points instead of South Alabama (.938 vs. .800), and Little Rock ties with Texas State (.500), not Appalachian State.

Football: Despite the fact that the game was not played, the conference still decided to award Coastal Carolina and Louisiana for qualifying for the conference championship. They each received half a point. Now for the confusing part. In women's soccer and volleyball, when there was a tie between teams, the conference did not break the tie, they awarded the teams equal points, this in accordance with the stated guidelines. But for football, Georgia State tied with Georgia Southern and Texas State tied with Arkansas State. The winners of the games between the two teams, Georgia State and Texas State, were awarded the extra points.

Indoor Track and Field comes up next month.

RE: 2020-2021 Bubas Cup standings
It will most likely be almost a 3 way tie with South Alabama, Arkansas State, and Texas State after Basketball concludes.

This is going to be a fun Spring season.

It may come down to how many points USA picks up in Men's Tennis, as ASU and TXST do not sponsor that sport.

Take a little closer look at the basketball standings. Right now, the top point getters are Louisiana, South Alabama and Texas State. This will be an interesting weekend.

That is my point, USA and TXST will gain points on ASU, creating a very close logjam at the top.

Since ASU has no Softball, it most likely is a dogfight between USA and TXST.

It wasn't your men's basketball that was the problem. 9-5 may not be anything to write home about but it's still the third best record in the conference this season.

RE: 2020-2021 Bubas Cup standings
1. South Alabama (75)
2. Louisiana (72)
3. Texas State (70)
4. Arkansas State (68)
5. Coastal Carolina (66.5)
6. Texas-Arlington (56.5)
7. Troy (53)
8. Appalachian State (52)
9. Georgia State (48)
10. Georgia Southern (40)
11. Little Rock (32)
12. ULM (19)

Georgia Southern wins the women's tennis championship over South Alabama.

In the past, seeding in the tournament has been the tiebreaker when teams lose in the same round. In this case, Texas-Arlington and Coastal Carolina tied for third, Louisiana, ULM, Texas State and Troy tied for fifth and Appalachian State, Arkansas State and Georgia State tied for ninth. Since UTA was the #1 seed from the West and Coastal was the #3 seed from the East, UTA gets the third place points, Coastal gets fourth. #2W Louisiana gets fifth place, #3W ULM gets sixth and #5s Texas State and Troy split seventh and eighth place points. Appalachian and Arkansas States split ninth and tenth and Georgia State picks up 1 point.

I'm calculating the points this way until I can get a different perspective from the conference office. I don't have time to contact them directly, so it will likely stay this way until they update it on their website. They are doing three more championships between now and next Wednesday so I don't expect them to update it until after the 28th.

Women's golf started today and finishes Tuesday. I'll update again after that finishes. Men's tennis starts Friday and men's golf starts next Sunday.

Could be a dead heat going into Baseball final standings between TXST and USA, which at this point would give USA the title.

Based upon if my calculations are correct, South Alabama is 7.5 points ahead of Texas State. They are currently tied in softball, Texas State had 17 points in the indoor track and field race, South Alabama had 12. South Alabama is in first in baseball, Texas State tied for 7th. With the time left, I don't see a mathematical way for South Alabama to lose this.

I agree, highly unlikely but, it all revolves around a TXST softball sweep of Troy probably puts Bobcats in second and gain 2 points on USA.

Using Indoor track is a good guesstimate but, more teams involved in Outdoor and TXST won Men's Outdoor in 2019, but using a 5 point swing, that would be a ,5 point lead for USA before Baseball is finalized.

A 4 game lead over TXST will be hard to lose in just 9 more SBC baseball games, but it will be fun to watch.

Purely Hypothetical, but stranger things have happened.....LOL

Your numbers seem a little off from what the SBC just put out.

Can you please verify your calculations ?

RE: 2020-2021 Bubas Cup standings
Now that the conference office has posted the current (minus softball) point totals, I can correct whatever errors I made from the four previous sports. What I discovered is that tennis had a regular season then a conference tournament so I had the regular season points missing. I decided to recalculate and simply post the standings after each conference tournament finished, all in one post. The next standings I post should be after the softball conference tournament and outdoor track & field championships are done.

After Women's tennis:
1. South Alabama (75)
2. Louisiana (74)
3. Arkansas State (68.5)
4. Texas State (67)

7. Appalachian State (54.5)
8. Troy (52.5)
9. Georgia State (48.5)
10. Georgia Southern (37.5)
11. Little Rock (32)

8. Appalachian State (57.5)
9. Georgia State (50.5)
10. Georgia Southern (46.5)
11. Little Rock (37)
12. ULM (23)

8. Appalachian State (57.5)

8. Appalachian State (64.5)
9. Georgia Southern (61.5)
10. Georgia State (60)

After softball regular season:
