RE: Game Thread: Georgia Southern @ #25 Coastal Carolina (12pm ET ESPNU)
I think our recruiting is actually pretty good for the positions we are in need of.
Lunsford has done nothing to make me think that he's tone deaf towards the struggles of our offense. Summers on the other hand, was in total la la land who looked surprised that he was able to form coherent words that could be understood in english.
I will say this, he absolutely has to make a move on offense at the very, very least. Our defense under Fritz wasn't exactly world beaters but an offense that is prolific enough to can cover a lot more defensive sins than vice versa. This off-season will be the answer to that question. It's quite evident that our offense isn't going to suddenly come to life, so I'm not opposed to having Ruse take over the reigns and get a head start in that direction since that fire on our front porch looks more than our garden hose can handle at the moment.

Things get complicated when a new AD is involved.
And this new AD has proven that he takes donor input very seriously. He’s very transparent and has addressed most every general grievance the fan base has had since he took the position. Very different from our last AD where disproval of his decisions was met with a cold shoulder.
I trust Benko to make the hard decisions we need to be making right now.
The problem is we need a new OC and DC as both are inept, you think Chad has the ability to fire both? The OC maybe but the DC is a close friend. We don't move forward unless both are gone and maybe some of the position coaches as well. The defense constantly being torched by good passing teams it. It is all a moot point unless this staff commits to a higher level of recruiting anyway which I know for a fact it does not anyway.

Shouldn’t that be automatic at the 30? Refs didn’t bother to explain wth caused it.
He never signaled fair catch. That was the ruling.
From what I saw they blew the play dead as soon as he caught it, which is what made zero sense.
This, honestly looked like a blown call by the refs. If he did call fair catch then ball shouldn’t be at 10. He didn’t run and acted like a whistle was blown. I’d they did blow the whistle on mistake shouldn’t it have been a rekick
Haven't read down far enough yet to see if this was answered, but it was discussed on our coach's show yesterday that the up back signaled for a fair catch because it was a high pooch kick, but the ball went further over his head to the returner. Because someone other than the one who caught the kick called for a fair catch, it was a dead ball at the spot of the catch and not a touch back.

Keep thinking that...numbers don't lie. Not one team whose roster was ranked in the bottom half of their conference won their conference IIRC, P5 or G5 last year. That is based purely on the rank of the players actually on the roster, not the recruiting classes where they went off to a JUCO and never stepped on campus. App last I checked was at 59 that will come down some but if you think where we are recruiting in the 100's nationally and where the top teams in the Belt much less the G5 is going to get us anywhere I would implore you to do some research as I have since 2016. Again for the people that hate math, they are RELIABLE, not gospel, and yes I get that one team one time did something and that ONE walk-on did something that one time. Take time to look up the word anecdotal as soon as you tell me about it. I am talking about the vast majority of players and teams year after year after year.
