Lest I made a mistake, I did a search for "MI" looking for any reference to Michigan I could find, the state, UofM, MSU, etc. Rivals has their top 150 and NOT ONE is a Michigan High School player. Amazing.

The reason for the lack of MI HS kids in this list is that many of them transfer to prep schools (like IMG) that are outside the state. Prep schools have changed everything just like travel sports have really hurt youth sports (especially Little League).

Agree, 'Nickle.
To add to what you said, we can compare or contrast boys h.s. hoops with boys h.s. football.
As you indicate, a lot of forces are ruining h.s. boys basketball. We saw that with Bates. And AAU ball is a mess. Some players change teams every year. They get recruited to a new team. Starting early with that transfer mentality.
OTOH, other than maybe a problem with transfers, high school football has been stable.
I have been looking hard at MI h.s. football and MI high school football seems pretty solid. Lot of talent all over the state especially around the Detroit area. In Detroit, Wayne County, Oakland County, Washtenaw County, Westside, etc.

Within 2 seasons we'll be competing for the MAC championship! That's what great recruiters, and great coaches do! Look at Ohio U two seasons ago, they were picked dead last behind us! Look at Buffalo, and Akron! Heath is going to be A great recruiter! But plays a fun style of basketball!
Too much kool aid, sir. Sounds like you were dreaming before you posted this...
I have no idea how next season will be better than this season.
What happened to you Steve? You are sounding a lot like me.

Nickle you may have put your finger on the root cause issue here. It is a shame.
Young kids have different maturation rates. Emoni Bates grew fast and subsequently he established physical coordination at a far earlier age than many of his counterparts, at 15 he was a genuine phenom. After watching him play for Memphis, I'm thinking those other guys caught up while just growing up. We probably should just let kids be kids.

Supposedly Bates has grown another 1.5 inches since the Summer, the late growth spurt has caused back pain issues.

Once Monty is out the door, Miggy probably will be too.

Carson Cooper may be a nice player to get.
https://basketball.thedzone.com/players/carson-cooper
A frontline with Mo, Jihad, Randle, and Cooper would help.
Also need a PG, and a SF in this class.
I'm not a fan of transfers but I'd like to see Pierre Brooks leave MSU and play with Randle, his HS teammate, at EMU.

I like to see the two JUCOs Grimes and Nelson. We are looking at a couple more JUCO players but public offers yet.

Willis is only uncommitted.
That demonstrates what Michigan MBB coaches are dealing with today. NONE of the schools those candidates have committed to are anywhere near to bluebloods. William & Mary, Loyola and Duquesne scholarship offers would have been laughed off by many such contestants in the not so recent past. Isaih Livers and Cassius Winston playing at aforementioned mid-majors? I don't think so.

Yep. I never thought I'd see the day that NOT ONE MI h.s. senior will go to the B1G. Not even A-10 or AAC or... Lot of B1G and MAC coaches fishing in a shallow pond.

All right, lay it in on us, ‘79! Is this guy any good? And do we have a chance? I think SF is exactly what we need!

I would love to see Pierre Brooks a 6’6 guard from a prominent program take our starting SF position. But is this just wishful thinking?
