Looks like a lot of verstile players.

The cool thing about this role recruiting cycle is how it developed so late.

Steve, thanks for breaking the news on Stan grabbing another high school high 3 star recruit.
Is this the same Geeter who played at Providence College? Or is he A high school player from Michigan?
Thanks! So, in the few days either 3 transfers, and 1 freshman, or 2 transfers, and 2 freshman?
Thanks 79 for all you do! Extremely impressive! This team with Noah, Acuff, Geeter, Billingsley, etc is looking significantly better! We've 2 4 star recruits! Last time was 1996 I believe! Wow!

Geeter was at Providence for a year. I think I saw somewhere that he missed the season with an injury. He's from River Rouge HS.

Talent wise this's starting to resemble the glory days of the 80's and 90's! Noah 4 star, Billingsley 4 star, Geeter 3 star, Acuff 3 star, etc! We need a stud transfer center!

Agree everyone! We will no longer be struggling in the MAC! We have reached the point of being competitive in every MAC game filled with freshman and sophomores!

Let’s finish strong and have #1 recruiting class in MAC.

Stan was not kidding when he said in his last podcast in not finishing last in recruiting. We’re strong at every position but center. Who is going to fill that spot?

Just like in football, we’re becoming the landing spot for the HM and MM player that wants to play closer to home!

Well done Coach Heath !!04-cheers

Going O/T (for a reason).

The Ohio POY. Where is he going:

1). G-League?

2) B1G?

3). Another HM?

4). Somewhere else?

The correct answer is #4.

And a lot of H.S. POY in even midwestern states aren't as good as they are when we say: "POY!!!!!"

Haven't said that, he chose an ...Institute of Technology. Wonder if he went for STEM?

Actually NJIT is a very highly rated STEM school. Hoops not so much, but maybe he wants a first rate education?

"In 2015, NJIT was ranked #3 on Business Insider's list of "The 50 most underrated colleges in America" (high employment upon graduation and high average salary)[60]
In 2015, NJIT was ranked in the top 25 colleges for earning six figures before attaining a graduate degree in Time's Money's list.[61]
In 2013, NJIT was ranked the #1 college "value" in the country (based on cost vs. starting salary of recent graduates), by BuzzFeed.[62][63]
NJIT was ranked 434th out of around 20,000 colleges and universities in the world by Webometrics in January 2011.[64]
NJIT was ranked among the top 100 world universities in Computer Science in 2009 and in 2010 by Academic Ranking of World Universities.[65][66] "

Wikipedia has the rankings.

P.S. I remember when their hoops team was terrible. Then one day they beat UofM and then we beat UofM... And the world stopped in amazement.

RE: Unofficial 2022 Men's Basketball Recruiting Thread
Quick pivot. I've mentioned in the past, that I know a kid who was a legit. 3-star recruit.

He went to Ga Tech and was to study SPORTS MANAGEMENT.

Ga Tech is a brutally tough school. Why would a Sports Mgt major pick it? The kid above (who chose NJIT) might have been a good candidate for Ga. Tech.

To me, it seems like going to MIT to study psychology. Why???

Certain schools are naturals for certain demographics or fields of study. Harvard is absolute academic excellent. MIT say STEM, Ga Tech STEM. Georgetown politics, law, foreign service, etc. UNLV for hospitality, etc. Howard black culture with an emphasis on political, law, and also health sciences to go back and serve underserved Black communities. Catholic University of America (CUA) Catholic based studies, mostly liberal arts, probably not a good choice for an atheist.

Or e.g., going to a liberal arts college to study STEM. Is that the best academic school for those academic disciplines?

Alabama - "Pre-NFL studies." 03-lmfao

I'm going to take a page out of '79's playbook. How about this guy?

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket...im-wattara

From NYC, played in New Jersey, frosh, SF, etc. Has a lot of meat on the bones for a frosh, SF (215).

I may be off base here, but I understand recruiting budgets in football, but I do not in basketball. I do agree that we do not need 15 players all below or over 6'5" but our approach can be tailored to our talent. Football is a far more specialized sport.

For most of last season, Spottsville played the 3 position as the "shooting forward" while neither presenting the ability to rebound as a forward and not shooting very well either. The reg season champ Toledo played three guards as well and had a "soft center" who could hit threes like a "shooting forward" and while he led the team in rebounding, his total of 206, was supplemented by 204, 197, 195 and 192 from his fellow starters. He was hardly a "glass cleaner" and yet Toledo went 17-3 in the MAC.

I find it troublesome that many are pigeon-holing Luka into the "point guard" position. I want Noah to have the ball, but Luka while being a great passer, has a very good three-point stroke. Luka at the three point line will be a very good option for a kick out pass if Noah' drive is stopped, two guards capable of playing the point, can be effective in playing together. You play to your strengths.

We are NOT playing the 2-3 zone anymore! We don't require a shot blocking tower in the 5 position or wings like Tim Bond. What we need is athletic and talented players who can shoot the ball, get up and down the court and actively defend man to man, regardless of position. Heath can adjust his approach and strategy accordingly. Just my opinion.

I'll repeat a point I've made in the past:

The rise of Oakland MBB correlates with rhe stagnation of EMU MBB. I think EMU and OU fish in the same pond.

I keep telling posters things are not always what they appear.

https://www.mlive.com/highschoolsports/2...inner.html

Remember the days when Mr. Basketball would go to UofM, MSU, etc.

Now Mr. Basketball isn't necessarily a 4 or 5-star recruit. There may be other issues as well.

Never take things like "Mr. Basketball" at face value. Someone tipped me off: Don't be shocked when Willis chooses. Won't be a name you would expect (I didn't know the school, though). I knew then it wasn't EMU and probably not even a MAC school.

In the NFL draft many talked of Liberty QB, Malik Willis. Some wanted the Lions to trade down in the 1st round and draft Willis.

He went in the 3rd round.
