Thanks for the reminder that we shouldn’t generalize to the many from the one. Every fan base seems to have that one guy like Sammy who thrives on 05-stirthepot

Texas Terror is a Sam Houston fan who is polar opposite of Sammy. TT posts information about scheduling or polls and makes meaningful contributions to various discussions. He’s more representative of the Sam fans I’ve met than Sammy.

I’m so glad you pointed this out, coochkat. I indeed do not speak for Sam. I know this may come as a shocker to some here, as I definitely take a diplomatic and academic approach to the discussions on this board. I definitely can see why some here would see me as some sort of univ. spokesperson.

Glad you cleared it up for them!

Once the group think mentality gets going, it just becomes one big glad handing, leg humping festival of the ONE approved opinion. If you have a mind or opinion of your own, look out.... They don't want to discuss the WAC with you, they want you to agree with them and back them up about how great it all is.
Sharing a minority opinion is fine. Throwing poo isn’t.

The OU and Texas moves are the kind of movement NMSU fans have been waiting for. We’ve seen that as a window to get into a conference. Surprisingly, many on the Aggie board (Aggie Alert) are saying they prefer to ride things out in the new WAC rather than switching conferences. We’ve gotten burned by conference realignment before. I found the sentiment interesting.

The only conference that provides a better geographic fit than the WAC is the MWC.

Domino's usually fall all the way to the bottom. Will shsu be in the sbc when this is over? Also will KSU or Eku Join them from the ASUN?
What will be the fate of a conference moving up together?
Myself I'd prefer an AQ7 group as fbs over the SBC. But that's just me.

Pete Thamel is reporting that the Big 12 is pretty much resigned to losing OU and UT, and is looking at expansion options that could see the conference expand to as many as 16 members.

If the Big 12 does opt to go that large there’s no question the MWC will lose one to three schools, in which case NMSU will stand a good chance of receiving an MWC invitation.

I’ve heard Cincinnati, Central Fla and Houston are on the short list for the Big 12 expansion. Not necessarily in that order

Which we would almost certainly take---but I would have reservations. Things definitely dont always work out.

If the Big12 doesn't go away I'd assume BYU Cincy Houston UCF USF Memphis NDSU the 3 TX schools in CUSA should get strong consideration I'm not sure outside of Boise St and Colorado St who would get much consideration from the MWC. I'm not sure there will be enough movement for NMSU to leave the WAC but if there is Aggies should do it no question.

Who knows maybe the Big 12 could poach A&M from the SEC if A&M really doesn't want to be in the same conference as Texas anymore. The move by the SEC with Texas and Oklahoma is about money and nothing else. With the concept of the FBS playoff expansion the Big 12 was guaranteed a playoff spot. No matter what the next couple of years will see a lot of movement.

You are right. This was about money and money is the reason Texas A&M won’t go back to the B12.

Texas And Oklahoma Move To SEC Reportedly ‘Almost Done’

Quote:The college sports overhaul continues, as Texas and Oklahoma could move from the Big 12 to the SEC in a matter of weeks.

According to a report from The Athletic, the two schools “will send letters to the Big 12 on Monday informing the league that they do not intend to renew its grant-of-rights agreement upon expiration in 2025.”

On Friday, Kirk Bohls of the Austin American-Statesman lit the college sports world on fire, saying that the “Texas-OU move to the SEC is almost done.”

“Prominent Big 12 source tells the American-Statesman the Texas-OU move to the SEC is almost done,” Bohls posted on Twitter. “They’ve been working on this for a minimum of 6 months, and the A&M leadership was left out of discussions and wasn’t told about it. Move could become official in a week.”

According to ESPN, the report that Texas A&M was left out of the conversation is not true.

The report comes days after speculation emerged that the two Big 12 powerhouses reached out to the Southeastern Conference about potentially joining. On Thursday, the Big 12 athletic directors, university presidents, and chancellors held a videoconference to discuss the situation, with OU and Texas declining to attend.

“There is a recognition that institutions may act in their own self-interest, however, there is an expectation that members adhere to Conference bylaws and the enforcement of Grant of Rights agreements,” the Big 12 said in a statement to ESPN.

OU and Texas signed a Big 12 grant-of-rights agreement that ties the two schools’ football and basketball programs to the conference through June 30, 2025, meaning the conference would own the media rights for both sports.

Should they leave, the schools could owe the Big 12 conference $76 million and they would need the support of 11 of the 14 SEC schools in order to join the conference.

The move directly impacts Texas A&M University, which joined the SEC in 2012 partly to get away from their in-state rival.

“We want to be the only SEC program in the state of Texas,” A&M athletic director Ross Bjork said. “There’s a reason why Texas A&M left the Big 12 — to be standalone, to have our own identity.”

“We’re the best league in college football and everybody wants to play there, and now you’ve got two iconic brands that want to join, too,” Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz said. “It’s an exclusive club and not everybody gets in, so good luck, especially if A&M has anything to do with it.”

Should Texas and OU make the move to the SEC, the Big 12 would be left with eight teams, making it necessary for the conference to reach out to other schools about potentially joining the Big 12. Houston, Cincinnati and UCF expressed interest the last time the conference discussed expansion.

As conference realignment in college sports continues, the question becomes whether other conferences will also look to add teams.

The PAC-12 – which added Colorado and Utah in 2011 — said they would be “foolish” not to listen to potential candidates.

“I consider the Pac-12 an exclusive club with a high barrier to entry,” PAC-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff said. “We love the schools and teams we have today. We’re not actively seeking to poach any teams from any conference, but we’d be foolish not to listen if schools call us.”

The landscape of college athletics has changed drastically over the past month, as student-athletes are now allowed to profit off of their Name, Image and Likeness.

LMFAO at thinking NDSU, UTSA, & UNT will get strong consideration for the Big 12.

Glad you cleared it up for them!

Let's review. You spew garbage about other schools. You agitate and anger posters with your shallow opinions that are not fact based. You say derogatory things about groups in general that borderlines racism and gross ignorance on your part. You act like a spoiled brat who in no way represents SH or any University for that matter. I played along with you for a while hoping you might see your arrogance and stupidity but you are too blind to see it. Nonetheless if this is your sole purpose then I would suggest others just not engage you. Maybe this will be a wake up call to you. Somehow I doubt it.
Riveting advice from the dude who has *checks thread* replied to me 8 times over the last 3 pages. I’ve been nothing but respectful since joining this board, if you don’t like the FACTS I speak, you can just give me negative rep.
