According to that data, UC academic spending rose 11% over the period where total athletic spending did not change and football spending dropped slightly.

They have endorsed splitting off FBS football from NCAA governance.

The timing of this is interesting. If you listen carefully to some of Coach Fickell's comments this season, he has shared in very broad generalities that change is coming for college football. To my knowledge, he's never overtly said conference realignment but has alluded to scheduling more regionally, particularly in light of what we've seen this year with Covid 19. But my sense was he wasn't limiting changes to 2020.
