RE: Marshall - UAB
We need at least one more road game since we lost Rice and ODU. I thought a game at Marshall was an easy solution. Evidently we are going to keep the Rice game on the road if it turns out that it is impactful game. I assume the same goes for Marshall. Why hasn’t the CCG game been moved to 12-19. Let’s open up 2 weeks for make up games. This year is just fudged up with so many games cancelled and so many players opting out and also players sitting out games due to quarantining. I have to admit Though, I am happy to just to get to watch some ball at all this year and I am not losing sleep over any of this scheduling crap.

The reason we wont push the CUSA championship back is because of potential bowl agreements.

We would need more than one week to tie up those loose ends.

Gotcha. I am thinking the bowls are going to have to delay too. Part of me wishes we would just cancel the ccg and bowls. I hope things return to normal next year.

This thread was started because there is a post starting on the HerdFans board about what the Herd AD said were the 'challenges' of getting UAB on the schedule and them not wanting to come to Huntington for a game even though we lost a conference home game and they lost a conference road game.

There is messaging from our head coach now that we likely won't be adding a game over the next two weeks and that Rice could be scheduled at the end of the year if it will impact things.

I have heard this is the plan as well. If there’s a scenario where a tiebreaker is needed and a team is short 1 game, the CCG will be pushed back a week and Rice will play whichever team needs a game. Of course, this has to be communicated from sources because CUSA doesn’t seem to think any kind of public awareness is necessary.

So, in the scenario above UAB would play Rice to equal La Tech’s 8 games (and before anyone yells about it being Rice, they are a West div team so La Tech will have played them, too)

Why wouldn't Marshall get that crack at Rice?

I don't think UAB would get that opportunity, I think it would go to Marshall, because we only have six conference games.

You may very well get that opportunity. Remember that playing Rice is *if necessary*...if Marshall has a lock on the East they don’t need a game with Rice. If UAB has the West locked down - being the only undefeated team, for instance - then they don’t need another conf game.

I’d hope that most of the first weekend bowl games could move to later and grab slots that were reserved for PAC/MWC/MAC match-ups that get cancelled - if the games get played. Can’t imagine New Mexico Bowl being played, for example.

Yeah, also let's be clear.

No one from the Marshall fan base contingent on here is mad at any of the UAB, RICE or ODU fan base contingent.

This is strictly a critique of administration and conference policy.

We are still brothers and sisters in arms. But we need to get this figured out ASAP.

04-cheers

CCG would only involve 2 teams. Those 2 teams could play in the later bowl games and all the early bowls will have any other CUSA bowl eligible teams available for those early bowls.

RE: Marshall - UAB
So what's the latest? UAB, are we playing November 7th or not?

If not, Marshall will have real beef with the CUSA offices for a lack of help.

RE: Marshall - UAB
It doesn't look all that promising for a last minute Marshall game to get scheduled with anyone next weekend.

Shame, we currently only have 8 total games cobbled together, no help at all from our CUSA offices. CUSA has basically taken the "your on your own bud" approach.

RE: Marshall - UAB
Only time this conference ever did anything to help us was getting us into the FT. Worth bowl in our last year of the MAC. Other than that, about it. I really wish we would leave this conference, its not the one we joined, and the lack of leadership etc just makes it worse. I am sure some of the hold overs feel the same.

RE: Marshall - UAB
The trend this season seems to be around 30% of games get cancelled/postponed about a day before kickoff.

High likelihood none of our programs play a full 8 game slate.

However, Marshall is especially vunerable, as one more cancelled/postponed Herd conference game knocks us out of contention.
