Since when has “Alabama football” and “cheap” ever gone in the same sentence? Alabama doesn’t care about money. The real reason is one that you already know the answer to: they’re not going to risk a loss to an “inferior team.” Alabama fans already feel like them being forced to play Auburn annually is what lead to Auburn being able to build a program to be able to rival them in resources and players.

You should look no further than their attempt to silence UAB's program as an example of how they feel about in state competition, even if it's not a peer institution. Only because they can, so they did.

Totally this. Not even Q could run deeper than the conspiracy behind the Roll Tide.

Remember, they only play Auburn because the state legislature forced them to.

Interesting comments have already been posted in this thread so I'll just leave it alone. I will supply a suggested list of other P-5 powerhouses to b---h about when "the committee" gets bored with that school in Tuscalooser.

1. Ohio State
2. Clemson
3. Georgia (the GASO crowd will love to chip in on this one.)
4. Oklahoma
5. Oregon
6. Notre Dame
7. LSU
8. Florida
9. Texas
10. Auburn*

(Not necessarily in the above order)
*How dare I?

Because Bear Bryant didn't want to do it.

Alabama did play Springhill college in Mobile, AL a few times in the early 1900s. Alabama doesn't want to play us in basketball either, especially after we beat the NCAA Tournament. They don't have problems playing us in baseball.

Actually Alabama agreed to a 3 game series with USA, 2 for 1 with Bama coming to Mobile. Shocking!

Bryant is from Arkansas. It was before the pigs wouldn't play anyone in state but stupid is as stupid does.

Alabama wasn’t scheduling USA even prior to the NCAA Tournament game. In fact, our first ever matchup was that NCAA Tournament game in Atlanta. We’ve only played them twice since: in a tournament in Birmingham in 1998 and at Alabama in 2010. And I want to say them agreeing to the 2 for 1 series is just because they are planning on doing renovations to their arena; the game in Mobile is scheduled to be played when their arena is inaccessible, so to them this game is a matter of convenience.

So what I'm gathering is that Bama has a really fragile ego and Auburn is a lot easier to deal with

Yeah, forgot about that with everything else going on... With the SEC doing all conference schedule this year in football, will they do the same in basketball?

Kind of like how Wake Forest cancelled the App State game but doesn't have a problem scheduling Campbell.

The man with the most money gets to set the rules. Disagree all you want, and I do, but its how things operate.
I have a bigger issue with the amount of educational funds UAT and its system (and Auburn) gets vs JSU, Troy State, UNA ...
Plus limiting these same Universities in majors offered and opportunities to grow.
