Notre Dame at Wake Forest postponed due to COVID-19.

13 ND players in isolation with 10 quarantined.

Postponed would be a better word - they have a mutual bye next week (10/3) anyway.

I don't know how likely it is that the ND players will be out of quarantine/isolation in time to play the following week, though.

That was the risk of playing OOC games where other conferences don't have the same testing protocols.

Regarding today's Notre Dame news: I'm told @USFFootball tested twice Friday, all negatives. Tested again Monday, all negatives. Staff currently is contact tracing the game video from Saturday. Bulls set to test again tomorrow.

UCF @ ECU filling the noon timeslot on ABC

3:46 PM UPDATE: After talking with sources, the chances of Notre Dame and Wake Forest playing Oct. 3, the weekend both have bye weeks, is unlikely at this point. The number of players in contract tracing appears to be the problem, as players that are in the quarantine protocol for contact tracing are mandated to be out 14 days even if they test negative for COVID-19 every single day.

If that holds up, that would mean the players in quarantine because of contact tracing would place them out until the week of the Florida State game, and they would not be eligible to return the weekend of Oct. 3. According to my sources, there are far more players in quarantine for contact tracing than there are who test positive for the virus.

I would like to believe that common sense would prevail here. If a person has shown that they don't have the virus on multiple occasions through testing, they should be allowed to play. I could see how just simply just having a person sit out just because of contact tracing only to find out later through testing that they don't have the virus itself could eventually cancel the season. Baylor and Houston was already postponed without a single positive test.

Correct. You can beat the sensitivity and specificity of the tests with repetitive testing, especially when false negatives are usually due to user error (improper sample collection).

The Notre Dame/Wake Forest game has just been rescheduled for December 12th.
