CU maybe hamstrung by Boulder County mandate against ANY gathering composed of college-aged residents:

RE: Pac-12 resumption in jeopardy?
Well then Colorado sits out.
But regardless why would the PAC even waste its time?
Their inclusion in CFP will just lead to a 40+ point loss anyway.

11 teams playing 9 games is the ultimate matrix every college football conference desires to achieve, and that day is coming.

From the article:

While health officials said there has been “little evidence” of the coronavirus spreading beyond the 18-22 age group, the continued increase in new cases in Boulder prompted the officials to help prevent the spread to other community members.

-----------

Yep. That's some good "science" there. Little evidence, but we're going to lockdown this low-age risk group anyway.

Yes, that is ridiculous, like USF canceling vs FAU merely because we played Notre Dame.

Very ridiculous. A little spread of love and COVID never hurts anyone.

I don’t really disagree with this, but why is an 11-team configuration so perfect for a college football conference?

I will note the (intended?) point that an odd-number of teams cannot play an odd-number of games.

An eleven team conference could play 10 conference games a year and two ooc games (one for ooc rivals and one for a tune up/cream puff contest)
For scheduling this would give each team 5 conferences games per year at home, the buy game at home every year, and the ooc rival game at home every other year.
With only 9 conference games a team could be guaranteed 7 home games almost every year. $$$$.
Personally I would prefer 10 conference games.

At this point the PAC 12 will be lucky if they can squeeze in a 6 game season.

Why not?

Because math.

If 3 teams play 3 games each, the schedule is like this:
A vs B
A vs C
A vs B again
B vs C

C has only played 2. But there's no one left for C to play because both A and B have already played their 3-game schedule.

This works the same whenever an odd number of teams tries to plays an odd number of games. It's impossible to do.

How is that order constitutional?

I'm no lawyer, but I think there's a very high bar for the government to get away with imposing huge penalties on one group of adults based on immutable demographic characteristics alone.

Oh great, let's have a 4 win undefeated USC in the CFP. At some point, there should be a min amount of games played.

Let CU “host” one game in Denver, one in Fort Collins and one in Colorado Springs if they can’t play at home and then send them on the road for the other 4 games.

RE: Pac-12 resumption in jeopardy?
I will be happy with any games the PAC ends up playing. I fully expect significant cancellations, especially with the absurd protocols that mean if team A like Notre Dame tests positive then teams they have played, like USF, have to cancel despite no positive tests. That is an almost impossible standard to keep games playing.

I am happy that tomorrow we seem to be getting a nice slate of games. Taking it one week at a time and being grateful for those who are playing.

RE: Pac-12 resumption in jeopardy?
It's good to have so many teams/leagues back in the rotation. Obviously, this could all come crashing down any week. I'm just thankful there is college football. My Pops is 89 and so looks forward to watching the games.
