RE: Lending Tree Bowl - Georgia State vs Western Kentucky
Thank God, this season is over, and easy to see why a average team won CUSA this season....
everyone else was below average or awful.
Well we can look forward to spring practice where we all have teams full of COY or players better than anyone before them. Then like this year, reality will set in. With Piggy coming back for a 6th year not much to look forward to for Western fans. Honestly how can a qb just flop down on a 4th down play just so he wont get hit. Yes the game was over but its not the first or second or third time Piggy went down on his on on a 4th down play. And he threw the ball away on a few more 4th down plays. Coach needs to be fired for starting a QB like that .

For C-USA, the end of “Bowl Season” traditionally marks the beginning of “Make-Believe Season” — those ~8 months or so when we are free to pretend that our football teams are decent, or at least getting better. And I suppose there probably will be some of that this year, too.
But C-USA’s on-field performance was just so wretchedly awful this year, there may be less fantasy and more acceptance of reality. It’s one thing to be one of the Losers of college football. For Conference USA, that’s nothing new. But this season was different. C-USA has emerged as the one Loser that all the other Losers kick and push around whenever they feel like it, because they know we are too weak and puny and irrelevant to do anything about it. We are the worst of the worst, unless you count somebody like UMass, who played 4 FBS-level games, all on the road, with (basically) an FCS-level roster.
We can cling to the hope that new coaches and new players will help turn things around, but deep down we all know that’s silly and never going to happen. P5 exists in a different universe, of course. But even within G5, we’re falling way behind. The Sun Belt has obviously lapped us, and the American is so far ahead we can’t even see them. MAC is about on our level, but the one data-point we have for this season (Buffalo 17, Marshall 10) points to C-USA’s inferiority in that comparison, too.

Pigrome was himself or as expected. Georgia State did make 2 good plays on the interceptions but he was fortunate all season dodging several other picks. Bad throws, running out of the pocket for no reason, poor decision making and around 50% completion rate.
With Zach Kittley comin in to run the offense in 2021 I expect an improved passing game as long as Helton gives him full control and Pigrome decides not to come back or surely someone can beat him out for the starting role.

I doubt if we have to sit through a 18 (till last 2 games...15 ppg) ppg average next year

Below is QB and WR Western picked up. Western also let the Oline coach go so we will be getting another one. That, with the new OC, tells me Western will be going to a 4 wide spread look...2014,2015 ,2016. You need a totally different type of coach to tech your Oline in the spread than the ground and pound we saw this and last year. Different blocking patterns. You will see one on this play

This stuff is cyclical, guys. I realize you’ve heard all this before but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s true. Little over a month ago Marshall faithful were discussing a path to the NY6, and rightfully so! Relax
