****Asterisks Make Your Thread Title Hard To Read****
It’s a Tapatalk issue for me. Such a handy app for forums but apparently the devs couldn’t handle asterisks. It looks better in Chrome, but hitting the right button to reply, navigate, etc. is a crapshoot.

Wow, just wow.
I'm a graphic designer as well and I think the asterisks when used as agreed upon help the game threads stand out from the other noise on the board. The problem is now there are posters copycatting the format for other non-game threads.

Then I can see your point. (no pun intended LOL). So this is a case of Asterisk Abuse?

Format was supposed to be limited to Gameday threads but is used for anything anyone feels is important now.

Maybe lock old game threads Monday after the game so they drop out of sight. If you ain't said it by then you prolly don't need to.
Also don't start following week game threads until Tuesday, giving the locked threads a chance to die. That will at least reduce asterisk clutter and reduce thread clutter in a gameday thread. Stupid to have 300 posts to sort through before the game even starts, especially for fans who aren't from the schools playing and just want to see how the game is going. It's a nightmare.
Maybe even make gameday threads only on gameday and put pregame smack on the smack board to make that useful again. Like when Troy gets no posts for beating MTSU so they try to explain their relevance to App St/Marshall viewers

Is any of that necessary or really very helpful? Including the asterisks on the gamethreads?
I guess it makes sense to try to keep things topical so you don't get 50 threads about the same game, and maybe trying to make them stand out helps with that?
Seems like people could just scroll to the topic they'd like to talk about and post there. I guess in practice we're not that good at that, and tolerance levels for drifting topics varies.

I think that some of us are making too much of this. This is just a fun place to come and "shoot the ****" about our football programs. When we start talking about set times to close down threads and start new ones to make it easier for some who maybe don't keep up as well from day to day as others do, I think we start to miss the point. We're a large group of people from different parts of the country, representing different schools, but this isn't a corporation. Keep it fun and keep it informal because that's really what it's all about, even though emotions do run high every now and then in some of these discussions.
We have enough deadlines in our jobs. We don't need 'em here also. If someone wants to talk about last week's game until the day before their next game, let 'em. It's not hurting anyone and if you don't wanna read it, don't. It's up to everyone to decide for themselves whether they wanna keep up with how big some of these threads get and how long some of them survive. Et vivere, reservate.
