O'Leary Bowl
Fans have dubbed this the O'Leary Bowl. George O'Leary was an instrumental coach at both schools. On Saturday, he's going to be joining the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame. He will be in attendance. (He's already apart of the UCF Hall of Fame and has a statue on campus)

Ex-UCF staff on the current GT staff:

Georgia Tech Athletic Director Todd Stansbury formerly held the same position at UCF from 2012-2015.

Georgia Tech Head Coach Geoff Collins formerly held LB and Recruiting Coordination at UCF from 2008-2009. Most noteably recruited Blake Bortles to UCF.

Georgia Tech Associate Head Coach, OL Coach, and "Run Game Coordinator" Brent Key formerly at UCF from 2005-2015 mainly as OL Coach but notably was the Head Coach in Waiting to replace O'Leary. (Then the dark year happened)

Georgia Tech Defensive Coordinator Andrew Thacker formerly UCF Safeties coach 2015 (the dark year) and GA 2008-2009.

I don't see GT being their normal cup-cakey selves this year. Hope knights are well prepared for this one.

Should be a good game. I thought Geoff Collins was a really good hire by Ga. Tech, he has a big task converting them from that triple option but it looks like this year they will be much more dangerous then they were last year. Good luck Knights, lets get another ACC pelt.

Yea I think this GT is turning the corner and will be successful under Collins. This is a really good team. GT has already kicked off the rust and beat FSU. It has a big game feel even tho GT hasn’t been good in recent history.

Finally, something to get excited about.

Cautiously optimistic. Really wish we had a game under our belt to shake off the rust. It seems like a crapshoot on who's actually ready to play or not.

Are we sure this game will be played?

Hope so, GT plays well early with the extra game I think. However UCF ends up getting it together with some offensive rhythm and gets the W.

Awesome to see another primetime game on ABC. Should be a good showing that draws a lot of eyeballs

UCF in a sleeper. GT got a win against a weak FSU team. 45-6.

It’s Gameday!

My main concern in this matchup is our DL. If we can’t stop the run, we are going to struggle and GT is going to make this a time of possession game. I’ve seen O’Leary style football for a long time and you can’t score if the offense is on the bench. GT is just looking for 4 yards a carry to make the first down. UCF had some opt outs on the DL.

I’m excited to see year 3 of Josh Huepel (22-4). This team has a lot more of his recruits than Frost recruits. Dillon Gabriel looks poised for another great year. We have 2 new WRs nicknamed Stretch and Flash attempt to fill the void left by Gabriel Davis departure.
