No use in burning eligibility for an 8 game season and fewer playoff slots. Give players (Kiely, Mathis, Yoder, Everson, Lester, Smith, Lynn) who have yet to burn their RS 4 games then sit them. Use this as a preseason, develop depth, and get ready for fall '21.

I believe the NCAA has said that this year is basically a wash and even those who have used a redshirt year can tack on another year.

Does that apply to just the fall or the entire school year?

I'm curious what our schedule will look like. Maybe it will just be the 8 CAA games we originally had scheduled for this year? I feel like for playoff seeding OOC games are still useful, but those might go by the wayside. I could also see the CAA try to arrange it more geographically, swap our New Hampshire game for Towson or something.

All players currently on the roster will gain an additional year of eligibility. The losers in all of this are current high school seniors who will see decreased scholarships available to them. They got no camps this summer... can not visit schools and can not be visited by coaches. Prep schools and JCs will see record enrollment.

There's talk of the CAA splitting into divisions and then having a football championship game. The idea has good points but it also could lead to the championship game loser being left out of the playoffs.

So, I'll backtrack after clarification that this spring season is essentially a free year. In that case, go full steam ahead and see how it turns out.

To SF's point, I believe we may retain some 2020 scholarships as the following years may produce bigger classes. Feel badly for HS seniors. Still scratching my head that Cross hasn't jumped on our offer given the instability.
