The sweep will have implications for the remainder of the season. May work more in the G5s favor who knows could be CUSAs than the Sun Belts but it is what it is. This is an opportunity more likely for the AAC unfortunately later in the season. The exposure over the previous two weeks has been outstanding for the Sun Belt though.
Sorry. Just works in the favor of the SEC and ACC. One of them will be assured to get two spots in the playoff even if a G5 runs the table. This is the way.
Taking a more optimistic view here. The Sun Belt has moved the needle for all of us. You may feel CUSA still has the mojo to be considered higher profile and that's fine it's all good. If you do little brother just pulled a P5 hat trick and has two teams ranked. Dam that was quick watn it. This is serious motivation for G5 players across the board but fantastic candy for the Sun Belt to demoralize his sinking brothers lil ragged dingi.

I can not speak for others, but what makes me curious is what exactly makes a team ranked in 2020.

Depends on what you mean by implications. Obviously a G5 team isn't making the playoff, but that doesn't mean G5's can't screw it up for a P5 league. The Big 12 is gonna be crossing its fingers that either UT or OU wins the league this year. It would be a major blow to their perception if they didn't put a team in the playoffs in a year in which two of the P5 leagues aren't playing.

What i meant by implications was "Implications for any G5 team dreaming about a playoff spot". I am sure NCAA will pick one from top 3 from Big 12 even if most of them figure out a way to screw up the season and then let SEC and ACC share the rest between them depending on how they fare which i don't think they will as bad as Big 12 anyway.

Just to test our theory that the Cartel media Groupies will not give a lot of credence to the extraordinary week enjoyed by Sun Belt; let's compare the Coaches Poll with that sportswriter driven poll. Doesn't their poll come out late tomorrow? Coaches Poll gave Appy State (23) some love and ULL (21) a nice Hug. Gonna temper my enthusiasm.

I didn't watch the game. I didn't even listen to the game so I wasn't aware of that happening and no one has really talked about it on BlazerTalk. Was there fistacups thrown or just arguing?
They didn't show what happened. The sideline reporter stated that some of the players were fighting each other. It happened later in the game. Not sure how bad it was, maybe the sideline reporter was overreacting.
I'm sure if it was something serious it would have been some discussion about it on BT. Probably just players being frustrated and venting on one another.
Just went backed and looked at the replay of the game. At 2:13:09 in the game the sideline reporter stated: "Players are starting to exchange words with each other, I saw a couple of fights break out".
Probably nothing but some players being frustrated and letting off steam.

RE: Not CUSA related: The Sun Belt did the damn thang today!
The Sunbelt did what the AAC has done in the past. That is win meaningful OOC games early in the season. You make a couple shockers against P5 conferences and your “RPI” goes up. That way a win against other Sunbelt teams turn into “quality wins”. Now pump that up on steroids where there is a shorter list of teams AND less opportunity to lose against OOC teams. It’s a perfect storm that the Sunbelt road right through like professionals. Great Job and don’t think for a minute that if Texas and OU fails to wing the Big12 mass chaos will ensue for that 4th slot.

Beating a P5 team at home like ULL did was good win but Iowa State is nowhere near a top 25 team or should have be ranked.
Kudos to Ark State, Manhattan is tough place to play. When Tech played there a few years ago, the refs gave them the game in 3rd OT
Iowa State is a good team and might have a 1st round QB. Louisiana just made them look bad. Coastal Carolina could beat Kansas tonight too.
Iowa St. played horrible today. That was not a good team. Southern Miss. could probably beat Kansas, they're that bad.
Southern Miss is a 3.5 pt favorite over LA Tech this weekend.

I'd credit scheduling, but neither the Iowa State or Kansas State games were originally on the schedule. AState was supposed to play at Michigan, and I'm not sure who the Cajuns had.
Those games were scheduled because the AD's at the 4 schools were pretty good friends from what I understand...
Not trying to take anything away from the Sunbelt schools who won yesterday, but I think the lack of a "home field advantage" (due to no home crowds, etc...) is obviously making a significant difference. Remember, G5 schools almost always have to play P5 schools on the road, in hostile environments, in front of intimidated referees. That's not the case right now.
If anything, this experiment is proving that many G5's can compete with most P5's head to head, if home field advantage is removed from the equation.
Iowa State played with no fans present, but Kansas State played with around 30 percent capacity, and a rather full not socially distanced student section. Kansas had no fans either
The one thing I've heard on our end is that it turns some of these OOC games into something similar to what we are used to seeing in November games against the Texas State and ULM type things with nothing to play for, just a few thousand diehards. In a sense that makes it easier and harder because you do have to try and bring your own energy. That might be a major issue for a P5 school that's used to capacity crowds. Probably not for a G5.

I pay little attention to lines right now. La Tech is coming off a week lost because they had to put half the team in Covid protocols. There's a possibility several will still be out for the USM game. Vegas is placing odds accordingly. I know for a fact that when it started to leak we'd had a few in Covid protocols, at least two gambling websites went as far as contacting Arkansas State Season ticket holders to see what they knew.

Let's be honest, Kansas is just another G5 team, even though they play in a P5 conference. The other two B12 wins are quality wins for SunBelt. I wish C-USA teams had those but we did not.

Congrats Louisiana! Y'all looked great against a good Iowa State team. The Belt is going to be really competitive this year.

If a CUSA team can’t make the Access Bowl, then I’ll root for the Belt. I think we are the only two not to have a rep there yet. On another note, Does anyone know if SB teams will have P7 stickers on their helmets this week?

We don’t want to brag too soon, plus Covid has everything in the mail backed up so maybe by week 4 I would assume

It’s not just the ranking, which is huge, but it’s the national exposure, rave reviews, and fantastic PR from the game as well as the great season last year.
All the while your team stayed home, in what was most definitely not a good look.
I would agree with you in "normal" year. But we and a lot of other schools are just trying to field a team and fill out the schedule.
I'd feel exactly the same way if Tech was getting votes. Sorry, but it's just not the same this year.
