At least you still won the game even down that many players. It will get better.

This COVID thing is hard to explain. Since players reported to campus in June, Louisiana has had only four positive cases on the football team. Two of them were natural freshman who tested positive Friday morning.

GS has almost half their team missing. Our entire two deep was able to travel.

Now, I would expect we will have positive tests after coming back from Iowa, which is a state that has had a big spike in cases.

Our entire team and travel party was tested three times last week prior to getting on the plane to Des Moines. That was per Iowa State policy.

It's the contact tracing that's getting us. We didn't have many positives from my understanding.

According to our coach - anyone who has contact (15 mins indoors within six feet and no mask) with a positive individual must be quarantined for 14 days.

Apparently that is where most of our players failed in regard to being available to play. I am guessing that is an NCAA or Sun Belt stipulation, but I hope we're not the only team following it to the letter and hurting ourselves as a result.

That's so stupid. If they test negative 2 weeks in a row they should be able to play.

I don't think we're the ones that made the call on that policy, I thought it was the conference. I could be wrong though.

I believe the CDC guideline for 14 days of quarantine for contact tracing is without testing. It shouldn't have to be that long especially if a player has several negative tests in a row while quarantined.

Maybe once we start rapid testing ( I read somewhere that Lunsford said we are going to start soon) that will negate the need for the quarantine period and we can test early in the week and later in the week and be able to field a full FBS roster.

You guys definitely need to get your hands on those rapid tests. We have them here and the entire Cajuns team was tested prior to leaving to catch the plane to Ames last Friday. If ordered to quarantine due to contact tracing, I am fairly certain that the 14 day period is only for those who do not get tested. A regular testing regimen, especially with rapid tests, should solve a lot of you guys' issues.

Georgia Southern has rapid test machines, I think the problem has been a consistent supply of reagents for the entire student population.
