Who is that?
Not trying to be funny or a jerk...I just didn’t remember seeing his name on any threads on this site, and we have a few folks here who are excellent at tracking & sharing that info. Is this someone we’ve been recruiting for awhile, or a late find to make up for others we’ve lost?

RE: New MBB Commit
well, he's an Indiana kid so if you dig around there's lots of video and articles with him. plays for a strong program, was a state champ as a soph and a favorite his jr year before playoffs were stopped. his teammate, kaufman, is the top 2021 recruit in the state-his top 5 included indiana st based on playing with jacobi and another friend, but most folks have him going to north carolina or indiana. jacobi was offered early by ball st, akron, miami and a couple other mid majors. UT came in a bit late-this march and I think walter offett was the primary recruiter.
before i comment on his game, I'd prelude it by saying that i'm a bit jaded on Indiana recruits due to our tendency to swing and miss on most of the ones we've signed. yeah, sanford was good, but there's mostly forgotten Indiana recruiting fails over the past (white, rogers, etherington) under coach k. jacobi doesn't strike me as having a particularly stylish or athletic game, but a nice offensive feel, especially in the mid range. was really effective offensively as a second option. thought his defense was weak in the video's i saw that weren't highlight reels. young looking kid with big feet, perhaps, he's still got a little growth spurt in him.
i really like ziegler out of detroit and the guards vinson (KY) and harris (GA) on our board, but got no insight on how the staff sees it, if jacobi was on top or maybe a notch down but a more realistic get. not sure if it's a coincidence but middleton pf AJ braun (UT offer) verballed to wright st on the same day. braun is a soft looking guy with a lot of basketball talent and will be interesting to watch develop nearby.

RE: New MBB Commit
Take it with a grain a salt, but this is what High School Recruiting Analyst, Treavor Andershock from Indiana Basketball Source says about Kooper Jacobi:
"Although often overshadowed, Jacobi has been a steady player alongside Trey Kaufman. For Silver Creek, Jacobi brings the energy and dirty work around the basket. With his effort plays, Jacobi mixed in mid-range and outside shots more and more over the last two years. As a junior, Jacobi averaged 17 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. In the MAC, Jacobi is going to be able to rebound at a high level and score in the lane. The difference between Jacobi being a role player and a major scorer will be his shooting. He’s been a good free throw shooter and productive in the mid-range. During both of those shots, his arch is extremely flat. That’s why his three-point shooting has been inconsistent throughout his high school career. If that improves, Jacobi will have a great career at Toledo."
247sports Recruiting Analyst Brian Show added that "Jacobi is a kid with All-MAC type of potential before it is all said and done."
Let's hope these 2 Recruiting Analysts are correct in their observations/projections!

I agree pono about his defense in the limited video clips. Another TK recruit with a good offensive game and 3 point range. Here are a few comments on Kooper Jacobi (a great name for an artist or author) from PrepHoops.com
"Kooper Jacobi is a taller forward with a lot of length and skill. He is the definition of an inside-outside threat as he has a tremendous amount of range from the outside and he can also finish at the rim with the best of them. He doesn’t have the ability to take someone off the dribble, but when he gets the ball in the post position, he is almost always a sure bucket. I would like to see him improve his handling and mobility to allow him to get to the rim off of the dribble, but he has so many other strengths that he has the potential for a big game every time that he walks on the court."
"Kooper looks really strong and tough right now. Not ideal size for a 4-man for high-major programs but at the right school and against guys in that 6-6 to 6-8 range, his motor and toughness will shine through better than most. Looked solid on his mid-range jumpers and was some physical on the boards. Could be an instant impact guy really quickly in college."
"Jacobi is one of the best forwards in the entire state. His feel for the game is at an elite level and he just seems to know how to use his talents. He’s an inside-out threat who can shoot the ball well from a distance. He is a tall forward with a ton of length and size."

RE: New MBB Commit
Why do we always recruit and get the 2nd. or third best player on a team. Silver Creek's best player has all kinds of offers, I think we had similar scenario with another set of players recently and the player we got transferred to Mt. Union after 1 year on the bench. Can't remember his name?????

Boothe was the second best player on his high school team. I would say that worked out well for UT.

RE: New MBB Commit
He does have a fairly flat shot. Flat shots never have the correct finger tip back spin release. They are almost always knuckle balls. I see some of this trend in his videos but not always. It tough to redevelop a shooting stroke. Flat balls/arcs are pushed not “fish hook” strokes.
I’m a little dubious after Etherington. He had similar accolades. However, I’ll trust the staff on their evaluation skills. I think TK is improving in his recruiting skills season by season. I believe TK has grown in his recruiting skills. I’m happy to see a new addition to our team. I’m excited for basketball.
Go Rockets!

The Rockets definitely got the better of that deal despite Boothe being the "2nd best player on the team" it's not just about talent. Supposedly, the best player and highest rated recruit was Paul Darius. As a freshman Darius quickly became a key player at Western Michigan. He started 33 games, averaging 10.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He led all Mid-American Conference freshman in scoring and rebounding and was named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year - and then announced he was transferring to Illinois to play for John Groce. Due to transfer rules he had to sit out the 2013–2014 season. In April 2014 Paul was suspended from the team at Illinois after being arrested for underage drinking and resisting arrest. He then spent the 2014-15 season at junior college Lamar State. During his junior college season he was named a top five junior college recruit and signed to return to Illinois. During an exhibition tour in France in August 2015 Paul was charged with vandalism, public intoxication and resisting arrest. He was sent home and dismissed from the team. He eventually spent his senior year (2016–17) at Robert Morris averaging 18.7 points, 7.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 blocked shots per game. He earned NAIA Division II All-American Honorable Mention Team honors.

ya never know. That kid might have stayed out of issues here and thrived. Can't see Boothe not succeeding just about anywhere that would have given him a chance. If new kid has the mettle, he'll learn what he needs.

acunzo was on a team with several D1 recruits including a 4 star kid.
logan hill was on a high school team w an osu recruit.
marreon's high school team had several D1 guys including one familiar one who went to missouri for his first year.
keshaun played with bradzikis the umich 1 and done forward
james gordon was on a loaded hs team
those are a few off the top. then again, good talent attracts talent and recruiters. being the second best guy on the team got biden a nomination fwiw
