Exclamation RE: History in the making
Not sure if I'm the last one to realize this or what, but today is the 8th anniversary of the day Notre Dame joined the ACC - and - the first time they've ever played an ACC conference football game. Pretty cool!

What a sluggish trash game. We were sleepwalking.

Happy to have the first ACC win under our belts though!

RE: History in the making
Brian Kelly says ND football will play as an independent next year:

ON IF THEY WILL REMAIN IN THE ACC NEXT YEAR OR WILL THEY RETURN TO BEING AN INDEPENDENT

"This has been a great opportunity for us. Let's make no mistake about it. We were in a very difficult situation without games from the PAC 12, which we we love playing USC, we love the rivalry there with with them, as well as playing Stanford, and the Big 10 games.

The ACC obviously came through for us in a very difficult time and we're indebted to them for that.

But we're going to continue as as an independent after this year and we just feel as though as a university and what we've been able to get from that, us alone, in terms of what works for us at Notre Dame, it may not work for others, but what works for us is this opportunity to play USC, to play Navy, to play Stanford, to play the Big 10 schools, and to play some of the ACC schools as well.

So, we're grateful for this opportunity this year, but we look forward to our independence too.”

The goal for this season isn’t that Notre Dame decides they want to be full ACC members. That’s not happening. That goal is that after the season Notre Dame fans say “That wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.” If you’re hoping for more, you’ll be disappointed. Think long term. Very long term.

Well....Lance was certain that ND had a "secret deal" to stay in the ACC, with the incentive/concession/ that Jack Swarbrick would be the next ACC commissioner to ease the transition.

He was not the only one who thought that way.

The only way we play next season is if Covid is really active.

Which is a possibility, but this was always temporary arrangement.

Kelly would not go on ESPN to say this without this being a non-controversial consensus all the way up the chain of command to Jack Swarbrick and Father Jenkins.
