Football in a time of Covid
Keeper was absolutely right. Our situation today is way beyond politics. It is beyond football. It is about life and death and human rights.

A lot of my fellow Tigers have shown a side of themselves that amazes and disgusts me.

I will be supporting my team this year from home because of the risk of Covid due solely to my age. I lost my BF, a huge Tiger fan, from it in Feb., and my young cousin. I respect Kenny's decision. I feel his pain.

I hope no one else on this board has to witness the death of a loved one from this vicious disease. You won't understand until it happens to you.

The arrogance of some of you thinking you know how the coaches feel about his decision, the gall of some of you calling out this young man on a public board about probably one of the hardest decisions he has ever made is only offset by the many Tiger fans I know who do not consider our student-athletes their "entertainment product." The ones who actually get to be with and interact with these young men (all in NCAA-sanctioned events) and get to know them personally, and hear what their dreams and aspirations are.

I won't say those two words that trigger y'all so damn much, but I will not be silent. I think your attitudes s-ck. 03-puke03-nutkick I'm not going away. So, deal with it.

RE: Football in a time of Covid
I am so sorry for your loss during this time. I have thought of you and your family and friends since you first revealed what you had been dealt by this scourge.

I wish for nothing best the best for KG and his decimated family, and for all of our Tigers who put on the uniform for the University of Memphis.

No need to go away, just keep plugging along and we'll all come through this together. Hang in there!

Go Tigers Go! 04-cheers

It is good you are here, 'Best Poster'.

It would weaken the group dynamic considerably if you left. Just PM me if you want extra support!

RE: Football in a time of Covid
I do want to offer my sincere condolences for your losses. Please accept my sympathy. I know that this has had a profound effect on you and, evidently on Kenny Gainwell's family.

It's amazing how different this virus can be in its effect on people. I had it in June and my symptoms were runny nose, slight fever, and slight sore throat. When I was diagnosed as Positive, I was very worried. I'm over 75, overweight, and have high blood pressure and Type II diabetes. From news accounts, I should have been affected severely, but I wasn't. I took Benadryl for the runny nose and stayed home.

The virus is very contagious. I gave it to my lady friend, my daughter, and my grandson. Fortunately, their symptoms were also very mild. None of us went to a doctor except to get the nasal swab test.

My sister had the virus in March when her son came back from Europe and quarantined at her house. They both experienced mild symptoms that they treated with Tylenol, but didn't get the covid test, although they lost the sense of taste and had other classic symptoms of Covid-19. My sister then tested positive for the Covid-19 virus in June. I believe that this was a re-infection for her, but she didn't go get the test in March, so there is no proof.

I personally believe that re-infection is possible, so I'm being cautious. From what I read, immunity after you have the virus could last a few weeks to a few months. We need a vaccine to get rid of this scourge.

I have to agree. Many are not taking this seriously enough.

We all need to sonder the situation.

Life goes on day after day, each in it's own special way,
TIGERNATION, be strong and mask up, glove up, safe distance and hand SANITIZER at least 10 times a day.
And we'll continue to say, life goes on day after day.

I am so very glad all of you all had milder symptoms. I appreciate hearing your account of how it was for you all. Yes, it is a very strange disease that can kill a healthy 24 year old young woman like my cousin, and yet, many older people with other conditions do okay with it. I try to tell people to take it seriously, and many just want to make it political and call me brainwashed and worse. It's just really an illness that you almost have to experience to understand how bad it can be.

It IS extremely contagious. A friend of mine who is my age took a plane to Dallas to see her first grandchild, returned home to Memphis and was dead of Covid within two weeks.

Yes, I will be getting the vaccine whenever it's available, and I pray one will work. You must be tough as a Tiger to have come stared that evil disease down.

Thank you for your post. GO TIGERS!

My 26 year old nephew got it when they thought no young people were getting it--He and three friends who traveled to Florida for Spring break fun and games. Took him 3 weeks to get over the symptoms and stop testing positive...but some stuff (like loss of smell) returns now and then.

My cousin 70ish in Mississippi died suddenly with it. He was a medic in Viet Nam and got dosed with agent orange multiple times. I guess that was his underlying condition. Very fearless human being--saved many guys in his outfit, and was awarded medals and such.

Part of my job is working with the military and Ft. Campbell. Unfortunately, it has affected our older veterans.
